just wondering if n e one has tried a single mount turbo set up on a 3.0L by mounting the turbo where the stock air intake is ? what kind of boost can a stock block hold?

Yes it has been done and about 7psi is max on a std engine.

Goodluck running it reliably and for a long time on 10-12 psi.Been proven numerous times around 7psi is the limit for std pistons. They tend to break the crowns off .

what about upgraDED internals + decompression gaskets n e idea of what it could take?

depends on the internals then, and how much compression you run, if you intercool it and run a safe tune, then u can start to crank up the boost, the block itself would handle it fine, mainly pistons and conrods.
if your car is stock standard, buy an S13 and crank the boost on it, magnas are just too expensive.

Yea Im with this, well not an S13 but if you want a fast car buy a jap import or a V8. Magnas are great cars but yea even I have no illusions that my VR-X is still a family car with pretty wheels, a noisy muffler and a scraping bodykit.

yeah the S13 is just an example of a cheap car u can get to go fast.
i like my car the fact that cops dont pick on me, and my insurence isnt a joke, and parts are easy to get

Using meth injection....no chance doing it without extra cooling...
But yeah can be done.

End of the day if your going to spend the cash like i am 20psi+ but thats more then just the motor, you'll have to upgrade everthing, i'm having no worries @10psi in mine at standarded compression on a stockie ( but its not going to last too long )and its on a safe tune... :S
So if you want it to last with a stockie enigne 7psi ? might get 250hp atw? thats about what i was running when i had my old supercharger set up on :mits:
And it also depends on the turbo your using and what you want... for e.g street, tract, or drags? have a look on the web, theres acouple of different way to go about it,
And don't listen to people that say you can't do something, and its not worth it :P might be cheaper to buy a different car, but wheres the fun in that:woot:

Mines running 10psi ? On a stockie and it was a $650 second hand motor out of the weckers, with well over 100,000 k on it :eek2:
