Hey guys is it possible to run 2 subs of one amp, and what sort of amp would i need, and what power? the subs are the below ones.

Pioneer Slimline subs (http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Car%20Entertainment/Subwoofers/TS%20SW251.aspx)

Please guys, i have my reasons for buying these subs, i like, they put out good bass from my experience, and i dont want to be payed out for brand or style. Thank you!

P.S. If you wish to make constructive criticism or make alternative suggestions you may.

Check out this site here (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-hl916vDdfAH/learn/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html) as it will help you with the wiring... I would recommend a mono block amp to power those subs.

Do you know what the power (wrms) is of those subs? That 800w peak doesnt mean anything... (In terms of how much power the amp need to give out...)

It doesn't say on the site? I thought they would... stupid pioneer, I'll find out and let u know.

Edit: 200WRMS

200wRMS. Amp capable of 300-500wRMS mono or bridged will be fine.

*edit - capable of that power running at 2 ohms.

(pardon ignorance but ohms defeat me) What's better 2 or 4?

You don't have a choice - if you're using those 2 subs, which as far as I can work out from Pioneer's ambiguous marketing shizenhouzen, are a single 4ohm voice coil each, you either wire them in parallel to get 2 ohms, or in series to get 8ohms, and you don't run car speakers in such a way that you present an amp with an 8 ohm load, because you aim for the lowest load the amp can run at stably.

There is no such thing as to little or too much as each to their own. Really depends on how much money you have to spend.... Higher rms subs costs more money than lower rms (If we take quality etc out of the equation)

Higher rms = More power = More bass

400-500w Mono capable of running a 2ohm load (what mono isn't!) will be perfect. If you want to stick with the same brand throughout a GM-D7400M will get you by nicely, they're rated at 400w RMS @ 2ohm and shouldn't set you back more than $300 or so. GM-D8400M will give you a bit more guts (600w RMS @ 2ohm), which would be my preference, better to have an amp with ample power you can run comfortably than an amp that only just makes the power you need running at its peak all the time.

305's and 306's were the best of the range, sound about as good as each other, 307 and 308 were a bit of a let down.

Anyways... what is your budget for the amp you would like?

Have you factored in things like labour, wiring kit etc?

305c is an unstoppable beast of a sub hehe. We thrashed so many in their time.. I reduced the suspension on one to be about as firm as a sponge and it kept goin :) that said they are nasty subs but they will always hold a spot close to my heart :P
