Going down to the shop going to grab myself a set of 4 neons for the interior of my car and a missile switch. Tapping into the 12v on the ciggi lighter, putting the switch in my glove box. Don't know where i'll put the rear neons...but hey i'll guess i'll find a spot? anyone else got similar set ups?

I think you can't dim neon bars (at least, not so easily) but LED bars you certainly can with a bit less sillyness than mine.

I'm sure there are also some kits around for this.

Also you could probably quite easily modify the standard controller that comes with the Ikea Dioder bars to take 12V in rather than 240V as an "easy way out" to something basic that'l let you select a few colours and a fade colours mode.

I'm hoping the 12v on the ciggi lighter can support front and rear neons.

yes it will, but dude, tap it into the interior light. so they turn on when the doors open, and use the neons are footwell lights, rears put under the front seat, and the fronts place up inside the well out of sight, there will be plenty of glow still. i added a switch too but its not installed now, so they run off doors only. im happy with it, and not too ricy
dont add a huge ass missle switch, just get a flush mount black switch from jaycar

I have 3 switches above my shifter, each switch has different modes.

Switch 1 (Footwell Neons): Off, Door trigger, Acc, Constant
Switch 2 (12v Outlets): Off, Acc, Constant
Switch 3 (Front Grille Neons): Off, Door trigger, Acc, Constant

However, this setup requires ALOT of wiring to do properly (with relays). Each circuit requires 2 wires in (Power+Ground) of the switch so for 3 modes, thats 6 wires, then 2 out, thats 8. Then those 2 run in to the relay, from the relay another 2 (Power, Output) making each 3 mode switch require a total of 10 wires, PLUS!! A ground for the circuit, a total of 11 per switched circuit :) But its nice being able to switch between modes.

I went to repco, 3 9" Neons (blue) for 30 dollars, then i got a switch and the last blue neon from autobarn *shakes* wow that was more costly then the 3 neons to begin with..
