Hi All,

Odd request I know but i'm having trouble disputing an item i purchased on eBay (from a previously reputable store I used to purchase some things from)

This is the item listing:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390068174384&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

And this is what I got (it's clearly too thin to fit):

I find it odd that it's listed with a VW Passat. I checked K&N's website and at least their Magna/Diamante filter looks similar to oem.

Thanks in advance!

i did.. but no reply yet (probably coz it's weekend and i emailed on friday)... just that they have a no return policy.

just wanted an actual picture as further evidence to PayPal should he refuse. i've already got a PDF copy of the original listing which shows it as incorrect

This is a 3rd Gen K&N filter:

You were sent the wrong one. Send it back for the correct one.

EDIT: Also just noticed you have a very small battery why is that?

pic in the OP looks like one for a 2nd gen Magna, they use a thinner filter so yeah that fillter should fit a 1st Gen Diamante/ 2nd Gen Magna but since you have a 3rd gen, it won't fit for you... palm it off to someone on here or return it to seller.

Overseas seller their vehicles may differ from aussie models slightly sorry to say i don't like your chances of a refund if they have supplied you with the part no they listed.Always look carefully when buying from overseas a lot of stuff is different from our stuff.Anyway hope you get your refund.

Thanks Fellas. The picture posted by Mohit as per the K&N website (international) states fitment for the following which the seller had all listed (so sellers clearly screwed up):
2004 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 3.5L V6 F/I - All
2003 MITSUBISHI MAGNA 3.5L V6 F/I - exc. LPG
2003 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 3.5L V6 F/I - All
2002 MITSUBISHI MAGNA 3.5L V6 F/I - exc. LPG
2002 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 3.5L V6 F/I - All
2001 MITSUBISHI MAGNA 3.5L V6 F/I - exc. LPG
2001 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 3.5L V6 F/I - All
2000 MITSUBISHI MAGNA 3.5L V6 F/I - exc. LPG
2000 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 3.5L V6 F/I - All
1999 MITSUBISHI MAGNA 3.5L V6 F/I - exc. LPG
1999 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 3.5L V6 F/I - All
1998 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 3.5L V6 F/I - All
1997 MITSUBISHI DIAMANTE 3.5L V6 F/I - All

But then i just checked the Passat one (don't know why i didn't earlier though) and it matches what he sent me:
http://www.knfilters.com/images/m/33-2125.jpg

But i just checked the dimensions for a Gen2 Magna and it's a perfect square at 225mm x 225mm so can't palm it off

Thanks all for the help.

i needed a picture of an aftermarket filter installed on the vehicle for sizing reference to confirm just in case i need to provide evidence to paypal (as i have needed to do so in the past) to make a successful claim.

The odd thing about the accel brand filter i purchased is that the length and width dimensions matched up but not the depth (~1inch too thin) which had me baffled thinking maybe there was a removal sandwich plate that the filter i was sent is supposed to mount onto to make up the missing 1inch

^^^Perfect!

Thank you Mohit, exactly what I was asked for. Is it OK with you to use your picture to send as said evidence?

Am I missing something here or does the K&N installed in a 3rd gen look NO BLOODY DIFFERENT to a standard air filter shoved in the middle

Yes you are missing a little something :P
Stock filter has ribs on it, K&N filter doesn't
