Gday guys,
Hope all is well! I'm just dropping a line to get some opinions on a new 3rd gen ive acquired through unfortunate circumstances, now my task is to make it presentable (which is pretty much already is) and sell it obviously for the highest price. The car is a 1999 KH Verada Xi with all the trimmings, sunroof, leather, woodgrain, 17's, 3.5L engine, power everything and all the mod cons us 2nd gen's wish we had. My first question is can anyone give me a rough idea of what would sell for and if mods like a JVM bar and mags would help increase the price.

Any help and opinions for you expert 3rd gen'ers out there would be much appriciated. I would love to see her stay within the club but atm with finances the way they are ill take what i can get. Pictures will follow tomorrow or tuesday.

Thanks guys,
Adz

First up, modding the car decreases its value so forget things like body kits.

Try to get a set of original rims with good tyres,

Give it a FULL detail (inside, outside, and engine bay).

Ensure its working great mechanically (check cvs, brakes, oil leaks).

Do any repairs that need doing, make sure the timing belt was done at the right time.

If the roof liner is sagging, replace it.

Ensure there are no cracks in the interior plastics or leather (being a KH I expect not?).

Ensure all badges are still on the car, and in the same place.

Ensure to have a full service history.

Get a roadworthy done ready for the new owner.

Ensure there is no finance oweing on the car, and get a certificate to prove it.

The rest is just luck for finding the new buyer.

second that. if the new owner wants a set of rims or body kit, they will prefer to get it themselves.

only mod that will fetch you more coin is new springs/shocks and brakes. and of course, these all need to be standard spec. but at the end of the day it probably isnt worth the effort, because you wont end up with much more.

if there is any sign of "wanna be" sports crap on the car, the people looking at it will immediately think it has been thrashed.

when i bought my 3rd gen, the first time i gave it a boot, the tacho didnt go over 4000 rpm (the engine was fine, just the tacho), and the actual gauge got stuck because it had never been there before.

another thing to do is drive the car every couple days, because if you dont start it or run it for a while, a possible buyer may want a look, only to find it doesnt start first go, or has the dreaded lifter noise because it has been sitting still too long.

after doing what life said, squirt a bit of wd40 on all the door latches so they close nicely, and your gonna sell it for sure.

good luck

Thirded.

As said, keep it original - if you're going to spend money, do it on routine items (brakes, tyres, rego, etc). From there on, it's a matter of giving a good detail and waiting for the right buyer.

clean it, shine it, tyre black it. The more it looks like it just came out of the showroom the more its worth. Service record is a must, especially for large items like cam belt, brake work. low km helps. Make sure fluids - trans, brake, engine and radiator fluids are up to spec - clean and up to the right level. Some rego left on it helps.
Shine interior plastics, clean seats, glass. Spray smelly stuff in car, empty and wash ashtray.
