I have a TE. Just bought a TJ boot lid, damn cheap, wasnt even thinking about doing that mod until now.

I am after some pics of Silver (pewter or whatever its called) Magnas with various tail lights, carbon, clear black etc. I just want to know which ones will look the best before I buy some, probably from ebay...

Try the members rides section/thread - there was recent pic of silver magna with clear-silver rear lamps and it looked quite good - usually I hate the "Altezza" look - but silver on silver was pretty good.

Can't go past the dark tint, either - but not really my thing..... I stupidly let a set or dark-tint TJ rears go at AutoBarn Dubbo for $120- or so "managers special" should have bougfht em for someone in the club, but I was new to forum and didn't want to be stuck with them.

Have you considered TL tail lights? They are glossy and shiny.

NAH, TL tails need the TL boot - which is more rounded at the bottom that the squared TJ one. The TJ boot will hit the (EDIT) TL tails in that black side panel of the light that you see when you open the boot. EDIT AGAIN: My bad - I am confusing Tail-lights and boot-lid, with the rear bars. Please read on for pics showing a minor misalignment between boot-lid and tail-lights.

Conversely, if you have a TL boot with TJ tails, there is a triangular gap (one side rounded) between boot lid and lamps at the bottom. Search in here (choose search terms wisely) shoul dfind you pics of both these issues. EDIT: PLease read-on, I have confused myself here, the problem is more between boot lid and rear bar, than the tail-lights. Sometimes I should just shut-up - not often, mind, just sometimes!! LULS.

Don't forget TE wiring harness won't fit TJ lights & aftermarket
lights do not come with any, not available new either!!

Get TJ one's from ebay always up for sale there.

But I will still need to buy the wiring harness separately?

check out my thread, there is pics of the stock tj's, carbon fibre tjs, and tinted carbons. i know mines not silver but it gives you an idea.

They fit just fine, there is a tiny gap caused by the lip of the boot lid being harder, but this does not effect how they look, you have to be up REALLY close to see it.

Elwyn, you are thinking of the bar (The rear bar is different to accomadate the boot lid curve). The misalignment with TL/TW tails is on the top only because of the curve on the lip of the boot lid, see my post above. its barely noticeable.

BUT, those tinted ones you have look pretty sweet.

Cant wait o see the Carbon ones on a Pewter TJ and I will see what I think looks best.

Just did a cut and polish on the TJ boot, seems to be coming up nicely.

Also in the middle of making a letterbox grille and painting the console and stuff around my Carpc and trying to mount the screen, bit of a hassle since I bought the 8" instead of the 7", doesnt fit to easy in the double din slot. But it has been a mess for a while now, will be happy when its finished, got a lot done today....

TJ's use late model push in type bulbs with smaller holes in lights than typical
older car sockets ,very hard to find workable alternatives.
do rounds of wreckers & bodyworks for damaged later (TJ,TL,TW) tail lights
to raid wiring from first or buy S/H std ones to get started :thumbsup:
