does your lighter element work? if it does then perhaps the socket is dirty
if not then check the fuses in the drivers kick panel
if still no luck then check for a "blown" fusible link (common in toyotas/mazdas... not sure on mitsis) on the back of the socket by tugging on it... if it has one and its is blown then just give it a drop of solder

if all eslse fails then its in the wiring

ok so i finaly got the fuse out and it has a bit of dark/ black shading around the base of the prongs and gradualy gets lighter. is it fryed? or should i just buy a new 1 and find out lol. there called small wedge fuses or something are they not ????

they are mini blade fuses and if it is blown then the little peice of wire inside will be melted/blown apart
try swapping for another fuse of the same color (rating)
99% of the time fuses blow due to a short.... which due to the circuit being the cig lighter, id suggest it being that a dodgy charger/adaptor was fitted, or even a shorting lighter element

Is the link inside broken? Thats the "fuse" bit that pops/breaks whatever when there is a short or overload in the system. if not post a picture of this fuse:P

oh the centre of the fuse the little wire bit had'nt broken either. i checked that when i pulled it out. it just had discolouring around the base of the prongs.

might be cracked or broken inside the fuse itself

The original fuse may still be ok. Give the blades a clean using a fine grit sandpaper and then see if it still works.
