OK. I'm brand spanking here so please hold back the fire if I've got this in the wrong place. I actually joined this forum to ask this question.
I have a 2002 TJ Executive with a sports exhaust that was fitted by the Mitsubishi dealer when I bought it. Car was ex lease. I've lived with the deep throaty sound for a fair while now (4 years) and have a bit of a love hate relationship with it. That said I'm no longer in my 20's and it's rather loud for a Magna. It's not a big bakedbean can, it looks quite similar to the pipe you'd see on a Magna Sports, but it is (imho) deeper and louder. On long drives or for people in the back, I find it a bit too much.
I'm assuming it was a bolt on modification and that it would be pretty straight forward to swap (particularly if someone has access to a hoist, pit or ramps). From what I recall the dealer had a cost down of about $700.00 for the exhaust (though of course being a dealer they could have been writing down inflated costs, in the end I was only concerned about the final figure). I'd be happy to help with the swap.
Failing that perhaps the deep throaty rumble would be sufficient incentive for someone to pay the swap costs. (That also would give us both the opportunity for a mechanic to say the bits that are being swapped are both in good nick).
Anyone see any downsides to this? Anyone interested? I'd be looking for someone with a good rep here and for us to both be satisfied that the bits we're swapping are in good condition before undertaking a swap.
