Hi Guys,

Can anybody tell me what size the front door stock speakers are in the 3rd Gen magna's (single speaker per a standard executive model)? Thanks.

Mark.

I've been thinking about changing my speakers also. I remember looking at a US car audio site for the diamante and it says it is a 7" speaker - meaning you need a conversion bracket to fit 6" speakers.

Are the speakers in the front 6" or 7" in a 3rd gen magna?

I doubt they would be 7", otherwise that would be a pretty big speaker....but otherwise, dont know, help???

Might go and check my tech manual and see if it has it in there anywhere. Will post results if it does....

As far as I'm aware it's a 6" paper dual cone.. not that it really matters, cause it's never really a crash-hot fit putting aftermarket speakers in standard fittings... ur best off makeing up a custom MDF baffle anyhows

Ok, no mention of what size speaker it is in the tech manual. Above comments noted, but, I have just pulled the door trim off and I would say they are actually 6.5".

As you have probably guessed, the whole excercise of this was to replace the stock speakers. I have some pioneer 6.5" replacements waiting to go in...so take off the door trim, remove the stock speaker from the pastic housing, size up my new speakers and guess what?? they dont bloody fit?!?!? The mounting points are heaps closer to the cone than the stock speakers...pain in the butt. I tried a few ideas to get them to fit, but to no avail, so as the sandman says, will be having to make up MDF baffles or mounting brackets or whatever you like to call them. Now I just have to source myself a jigsaw and a drill....:D

i'm thinking of shoving splits in the doors sooner or later. would 6.5" drivers be better to fit in holes with less hasle? someone should make a tech article about making a baffle for 3rd gen magna front :D ..

6.5 inch speakers fit easier than 6 inch speakers.
I just got some 6 inch pioneers but it had 6.5 inch outer holes which is what i used.
You are usually still going to have to drill 4 new holes no matter what though. Fire up the drill, takes 2 mins

I was told the fronts in the 3rd Gens are 6" by two dealers when I was looking at replacing mine. Although I haven't physically measured them, i'm pretty sure this is what they are in stock form.
