ok, i followed the instructions in the Sticky topic in this forum for installing a sony head unit in our 95 TS executive... the physical process of putting in the head unit was very helpful but i found the wiring instructions quite off the mark, at least in our car.
Firstly, do not connect the earth wire from your head unit to ANYTHING... the unit is earthed by a cable between the housing/bracket and the chassis, ie, when you take out the tape player you will remove an earth cable that is screwed to the mounting bracket... when you install your new unit, just screw this back to your bracket. that is your earth.
i made the mistake when fumbling through the wiring instructions given here, to assume the green wire that had gone to the tape player, was earth. what this did was repeatedly blow any fuse i put in for the taillight/parklight/instrument light circuit. this wire was actually for the light illuminating the tape player when you turn your parkers/headlights on. simply cut this wire off neat and tape it so it can't short.
as far as the rest of the wires: the red and red/white pair are one speaker, the black and black/white pair are the other speaker... the red/green and the blue/red are your constant and accessories power, i kinda forget which is which, just use a tester, although i'm fairly sure the blue/red is constant, green/red accessories. do not wire the earth from your head unit to anything; the cable that screws to your bracket is the earth.
and that's it. at least, that's what works in our car. hope this is of help to someone, thanks.
