I bought a second hand ECU for my TE magna,i believe that the ECU has to be coded to the key?
How is this done or does it have to be done at Mitsubishi?

The BEMs were only in later models, TH or TJ onwards. Just going to mitsu will do the trick with the coding

now you guys have lost me ? BEM? i have a early TE Nov 96,i cant see anything special about the key but im told it has a chip in it? Anyway i tried the ECU in the car and it fires but wont run,so i spose it must have something in it for the ECU.

Sorry, BEM is body electrics module that controls the immobilisor and such, your TE won't have one, so don't have to worry about it. Not sure about the ECU, as long as it's from the same type of car as yours, should be fine. Someone will know for sure if it needs to be recoded by mitsu or not

Yes your right, i bit of research says the key transponder has to be programed to the ECU immobilizer
This could get expensive...

Just go to your local :mits: dealer, apparently it does not cost too much to have your key recoded to your ecu.
