Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe timing belt lifespan is 200k km's.
100,000km or five years - whichever comes first
the service log books tell you when it needs to be done too - if buying an older car with lotta kms - look for the last time the timing belt was changed
EDIT - Rory_Newton beat me to it!

Always thought it was 90,000? or is that just because that's the last major service before 100? ie the next major one is 105k. I argued this with the dealer when getting the girlfriends TL, it had 92k on it and hadn't been done, I made them do it before we bought it.

no its 100,000k's, just depends on when the service intervals are
in the log book its 90,000 then 105,000
would also look at getting the water pump done too

i got the tensioners, waterpump and all the belts done together at 95,000K's (100,000k was the recommended - but car was serviced earlier).
My silvia has a chain - so doesnt need to be done!

precausion (spelling) water pump is driven off the timing belt....
if ure water pump goes in the next 100,000km u have to do the timebelt again...
so just good measure to spend the extra $90 or so buck now than have to pay 6 times that much in another few thousand km's
