Interesting to compare the MIVEC engine internals with our 380. Note they are using the skinny "74" rods still even though the MIVEC piston is now much heavier than the 380 piston. Extra weight is due to intruder to raise comp to 10.5:1. Also piston appears heavier under the pin boss with heavier beams extending out to the slipper skirt. On top of that the rev cut is at 6500rpm, not 6200 as in the 380.
Combustion chamber doesn't look to have been altered but the inlet ports are different to 380, still too big though. Top manifold, inlet ports and MIVEC seem to be the main differences compared to 380.
Cheers,
Alan
if only MIVEC was available on the sports models here :(

$20,249 US is the going price of an Eclipse. 265 HP 3.8L engine. Both better and cheaper! Do I hear the gnashing of teeth? lol
I will have the 6 speed manual thanks.

The MIVEC is no big deal. The ordinary 3.8 is easy to tune to the same or better power levels quite easily. I'd say Graham's 3.5 is making as much power now just with his mild cams and heads, and would make more with a reflash. 6 speed manual would be nice though.
Cheers,
Alan
