I checked all the Central locking threads but didnt asnwer my question.

About 2 years ago the central locking stopped working. I changed the battery in the control but it didnt fix it.

Then I spoke to Perry at the begining of the year and he told me about the turning you ignition on and off 3 times to reset the system. So I did that and it worked.

Unfortunatly it only worked for about 1 month.

So heres my problem. I changed the batterys again and tried to do the ignition 3 times thing but it doesnt reset anymore. ( last time the hazards went on but now it doesnt).. and if I press the green button after 3 times anyways all it does is beep at me.

Thanks in advance

Rob

Mine is the same (KH Verada) however, the indicators never flashed for me, when it reset, it just beeps.

Currently, it doesnt even do that!!!! So I have 5 remotes, and none work with my car! (all the contact points on the remotes are fine and all have fresh batteries)

Does the central locking still operate, if you lock/unlock drivers door with a key? If not, maybe check fuses for central locking system - workshop manual or glovebox manual might point you in the right direction.

If central locking works otherwise, then lets assume the transmitter (key fob) or receiver (in car) is a possible problem. If you have mates nearby with a 3rd Gen, try to code your remote to their car - if it works, you know your remote is OK and fault may lie in your car. If the remote won't code to another car either - the fault is likely to be in the remote.

A problem that the remotes can suffer is that solder joints on circuit board for the battery holder can break or become "dry"..... There isn't much support for the battery clip apart from the two solder joints - dropping the remote can cause mass of the battery to break the solder (as can heavy-handed battery changes). Open your remote, try to inspect the solder from battery contacts onto the board, try to see if a gentle wiggle of battery case gives more movement than you think would be expected. I've had a remote re-soldered (too chicken to try it myself, tho now I would give it a go). If you can revive the remote through solder, you can try to "pad" the battery holder against the circuit board (maybe a dob of silastic etc) to avoid excess strain on those joints again.

If the remote is OK and still no-go, you may have to investigate the car further, and if not fuses then contacts in elctrical connectors might be the next step (having checked fuses already). Workshop manual thread for clues to wires/connectors and components of central locking system would be my suggestion.

Sorry for the hijack in the thread but I didn't think it was necessary to start a whole new thread for one question.
- Does anyone know about the remote central locking kits in like autobarn? Can I fit these myself or do I need to get them professionally installed? There only like 60 bucks.
Just pm me so it doesn't take over Rob's question.
Thanks,
Carry on.

mines done the same thing
just keep doing it until the indicators flash
you might be doing it either too quick or too slow

Ok....

Changed Batteries in both remotes... Reset the thing by doing the ACC thing 3 times... Hit the green button and they flash again. But then thats it..
When I turn the car off and try to lock it or something it just doesnt work :(

This link shows how to re-solder the battery points on the magna remote for when they (inevitably) come loose. May or may not be your problem but might be useful for someone else....
