I thought id be a hero and add some distiled water to my flat battery and then hooked it up to my charger. 15 hours later, there is some water on top of the battery and a bubbling coming out through one of the screw holes.
There is no noticable bulging. Is my battery worthless now? Im not sure if I overcharged it or I added to much water.

Hydrogen gas produced by charging process. Be careful of flames/explosion.
Cheers,

yeah could be a good idea to remove the caps.
got a way to siphon off the acid? bring it down to where the plastic tube ends.

Once charged they should all bubble at the same rate. If one bubbles and the others don't your battery is probably stuffed from being discharged too much and too long. Once charged let stand to let all the bubbles up, and check with a torch, NOT a match! Even out all the fluid levels by transferring fluid from overfilled cells to others.

Could also mean that you are charging with too many amps I think?

you should be charging with the caps off. I know i used to work with century batteries, copped an awesome burn here and there from those damn things

Haha Lynel i was a sales rep for Century batteries in tasmania a few years ago, Yeah bubbling is normal, just make sure you charge with the caps off. A good sign of a battery being over charged is the outer case will be swolen.
