Hi,

I am about to attempt to install a set of Ralliart Springs and TJ Sports Shocks on a TE.

I am about to grab a set from hulkstar,

I have had a look around and found a few helpful posts, but was just wondering what is actually involved in the installation.
I just really need to know how much work it is, is it a one man job with limited tools, (no garage, no ramps etc.)

I am not really keen to have to spend a fortune or take car off the road for very long.

This is what I am buying:

I am also looking at getting some new rims soon, as I only have stockies, would it be advised to wait and do it all together?

My main reason for doing this is my car feels like a bit of a boat, and I drove another TE and it handled a lot better. Not really that keen to make my TE handle like a F1 car, or lower it to much.

Since these are a fair bit newer than what is on there I would think they would be HEAPS better.

Thanks for any advice.

TBH if you need to ask then you probably shouldn't be doing this yourself, the tensions on these springs plus a lack of knowledge can be dangerous. Do something wrong and you could end up with a strut top through your eye.

On the other hand, for someone that has done it before its pretty easy to do. So if you can find a mate thats had some experiance with it (and a set of spring compressors) then give it a go. You might even find a local member willing to give you a hand.

If you have to pay someone to fit them beware of overcharging, honestly you shouldn't be charged more than 30mins per corner IMO. If i can do it myself in that time than a mechanic shouldn't have a problem.

Damnit,

I was hoping to put it all together with a few G-clamps a spanner and a piece of sticky tape.

I might have to get a quote on the install before I purchase them, what a shame.

Unless someone reading this has a few spare hours and needs beer....

Suprsa_t: Do you live in Eastern Suburbs? Thought I saw your car the other day.

Yeah unfortunately gas is right i live on the mid north coast, bit far away....you could try posting in the NSW section.

Also if the struts and springs come put together ready to go you won't need to compress springs or anything just swap out the whole strut/spring with the new ones, 3 bolts at top, 2 at bottom and a clip on the brake line.

Wow, that sounds promising. I think its just the shocks and springs tho, not sure about the strut. Then again I also have NFI what I am talking about when it comes to cars, just love playing around with them.

Put me on a computer a woman or in the kitchen and I can work some magic. :facejump:

Edit: Excellent, they come with Struts, so I wont even need the G-clamps or the sticky tape to install them.
