Hey guys, I've noticed with my remote central locking it has a really bad range, it seems I have to be about 20 meters away from it to work, I tried both remotes and they seem to be the same, I thought it would have better range than that. Would it be the batteries that are the problem?

just point it at your chin when pressing the remote, i get alot of extra distance that way. i look like a moron though

Pfft, some days I get to within a metre before it works, other times anything out to 50m. But as long as it unlocks I'm happy.

really depends if anythings in the way of the car or sometimes when its blocked in by two cars
normally just hold it at head height and it should work

I've wondered this too. When I first got my car I thought the remote's battery must have been almost flat so bought a new battery. No improvement though :doubt:
Compared to two of our other cars (previous Tarago and current Odyssey) the Magna remote sux (at least mine does).
I have to be within about 1-2 metres of the car before it works. Might try the chin idea lol

same with mine, doesnt really bother me. I mean your going to hop in the car anyway, doesnt matter where it unlocks, as long as it unlocks.

I find it works better on the right side? Isn't the receiver on that side?
Holding up the head does work though! But you look like a fag

just brought a new remote today as my other one gave up found another remote laying round dads shed (detailer) and programed them both... the new one has a range of bout 20-30 meters and the old one has a range of half or even less... it also very hard to press and get the car to lock/ unlock

just brought a new remote today...Was this a new one from a Mitsu Dealer or an ebay one? How much? Might be worth buying one just to get the range increase.

My remotes pathetic, have to be within a few metres for it to work. Not reeeeeally a problem since being 3m or 50m from the door to unlock it doesn't really matter, but there are times when it just won't work at all.
You might also find your remote dies for no apparent reason, mine does it on a regular basis as the battery has come away from the circuit board...

@MitchellO, resolder the battery contacts, or find a nerdy mate who "gets" electronics to do it. If you then bung some padding under battery case to cushion against circuit board, it will help absorb shock if -for example - you drop your keys. The mass of the battery is enough to break the solder joints on the circuit board if the keys are dropped enough. I had a dead remote reconditioned by a couple of blobs of new solder!
@O-M_M,
Might be same cause for your dead remotes too! Split the case and check the joins where contacts from battery case join the circuit board..... if you can see cracks or there is suspicious movement of the battery case, then you likely have easily fixed items! If you not confident to do electronics soldering, find a mate or member who can give it a go for you! Its possible your remotes are dead for other reasons, but you can probably easily check the contacts of battery holder to circuit board and see if its the reason.

I'm going to try to resolder it, just haven't had time.
And there has been so much padding in my remote for the last few months it's silly lol

cheers fr that will check... but will probably need the help soldering if it is the case LOL

I noticed mine started to get pretty bad, then a little while later my battery died. Didn't just go flat was just old and died completely. It was the original battery in a TE so it didn't do to bad.

I have found the doors unlock you need to be what feels like really close.
Oddly enough, I've noticed that the boot unlock button seems to work from further away than the door unlock one... Go figure that one out??
Maybe it's meant to be a security feature like the press twice to unlock all doors, where if you're too far away, it gives someone the chance to jump in... Who knows...

My unlock button only works from about 5m away, but my lock button works from up to 20m away. havent tried the boot button, will give it a go in the morning. I used to have a camry that opened up from over 50m away, biggest problem with that is that the car had re-locked itself before you got to it lol

Sorry to bring this back up,.
Does anyone know where the antenna is and if you could even EXTEND it out somewhere so the range is better?
