Hi All,
On a 380 GT when in Sports Mode (Manual) We have the Annunciator lights on the dash to say what gear we are in,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a way to have those lights still operate in Auto...i.e. I want to know what gear the Auto has selected without having to slip over to manual to see what gear I am in. There must be something that disables them when in Auto mode.

Does anyone have access to a Circuit diagram for the wiring on a 380?

Thanks

Good question. I have no answer but would be interested myself if anyone has an easy solution. I hate just seeing D for drag there all the time!!

there is an electronics kit form altronic/silicon chip that measures the engine speed and vehicle speed and in turn displays the gear on a seven segment display
if one could get this kit then it shouldnt be hard to modify it to suit the application

I recall that the Hyundai Grandeur (1999-2002) model, as well as the Hyundai Sonata (2002-2005) both have the actual gear number light up/show up, even when in Drive mode.....

Don't know how this helps, but maybe there is some shared componentry between Hyundai & Mitsubishi, seeing as certain engines and bits and pieces were shared?

This is a seperate display from what I can see. I think what PNG is talking about is modding the existing software to show the gears on the dash.

I think it would take a reflash of the ECU to do it.

hence i suggested modifiction
ie a circuit to decode the seven segment output into 4 or 5 outputs to drive the gear lights/led's that would switch off when the gearbox is switched over to SA

its a lil something i was considering for my TJ

LOL - know what you mean! I was kind of thinking about the talking spaceship doors on "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" or the talking lifts in buildings...... "1st Gear" "2nd Gear" "redline" "3rd Gear" "trailing throttle" "kickdown" etc etc.....

But its a great idea from OP, and had occurred to me in the KJ 4-sp tippy as well. Guess I can sneak lever across to tippy-mode for now, to see what the box is up to!

I thought that the whole idea of having an auto is that the driver doesn't care/is too lazy to care what gear its in? lol

Noun 1. annunciator - an indicator that announces which electrical circuit has been active (as on a telephone switchboard)
indicator - a device for showing the operating condition of some system

Thanks for the ideas, if I come up with a solution I will let you know, am working on getting the circuits so may bodgy up something that does the job.
