Hey guys,
before anyone says use the search button i didnt about 5 times with variations on spelling and what not, no relevant results came up.
anyway, im looking for a new exhaust but i want it to be as quiet as possible but still allow good flow. I have heard teh rebacks are ok but im not sure how loud they are, i have done my best to try and find sound files of them fitted the3.5l manual magnas but have had no luck.
the reason i want a quiet but good flowing exhaust is because i work in a profoessional role and dont want a loud embarrassing car.
My current standard exhaust has a hole in it and i thought now is the time to get a new one.
anyway, if somone can please give me some advice in regards to the redback systems or maybe some other options that wont cost an arm and a leg that would be fantastic.
Cheers
Tim

i had a full redback system on mine and i wouldn't say it was quiet.
maybe get new pipes, high flow cat and keep the stock muffler?
thats all i can think of

its not especially quiet... mine is quite loud... but it is easily fixed by chucking some more resonators in there... or spend a little more (well it isnt cheap really...) and get a varex muffler tip... (you can essentially turn the noise on and off via a switch in cabin...)

Fair enough then. I wouldn't mind going a Varex sometime in the near future, lots of noise when you want it, none when you don't. A mate of mine has a couple on his VE SS-V ute, almost as quiet as stock when closed, 6l of pure ear-porn when wide open.

+1 for the varex if you want to spend the money and have the flexibility of just roaring when you want OR get a stock vrx/gtv muffler..they have a nice not to them...but not sure about whether they're comparable to a lukey or redback performance wise.

wow thanks mate never seen that before looks expensive good idea
My redback exhaust is actually really quiet I think, definitely quieter than my old Lukey, but then my redback is a bit weird, it doesn't sound like a normal redback, rather confusing to tell you the truth.
Normal redback systems are a bit droney around 2000rpm, but otherwise pretty good.

Yeah how much do we think the Varex would cost for a magna? I'm with the OP on this one - I'd like to have a muffler that allows good freeflow (and maybe a little noice too when showing off :P) , but I still don't wanna wake up the neighbors/parents every time I come home. I was planning to run a dual muffler system - is it still possible with the varex? Even if no dual how much a single system?

The Redback cat back i had on my Verada (which is now on Lugo's Verada) wasn't really that loud. It still sounded good but just a bit more droney than standard.

In regards to how loud the redbacks are check out HRD2GT's (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1103414&postcount=289)

any chance of people taking some short sound clips of your redback exhaust and posting them here for me to listen to?
I am especially interested on the start-up note of the system.
i just want to make sure its ok before i spend all this money on something im not going to be happy with and that i will just have to take back off.
I watched the linked video above but that doesnt really help me as i dont drive my car like that, im just interested in a sound clip or vid of somone starting their car and maybe a little rev and maybe some normal driving too.?
if anyone can help me that would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I had redback cat back, went to lukey rear muffler, the lukey is much louder then teh redback, not suprising seeing the redback has a much larger rear muffler.
Its not loud just drones at 2000rpm.

HRD2GT's exhaust is nothing compared to this because hes got the whole system from extractiors to muffler done and complete custome induction....

I love my varex, rate them very highly.
If you want quiet though I'd go a stock Ralliart/VR-X/Sports muffler (Lukey LR2779).

well guys... got it fitted, very very happy with the result, not too loud but does have a nice deep note under acceleration. Very happy.
managed to find a workshop that did it for $420 fitted.
i thought that was exceptional value.
if you live in Tas and want their details PM me. They did a great job and are worth reccommending.

You want to be careful with the Varex muffler. It should be a minimum of to clicks open if you keep it quiet constantly. I had to replace a broken oxygen sensor because I left it shut for a long time. This was with a 2.5inch exhaust system, so just letting some of you know.

How much did the Varex set you back?? Can it be installed without a professional? I really like the idea of being able to control the muffler opening - that'd be sick as :D
Thanks mate!
