i changed my coils the other day, and i accidently twisted the top spring plate (the one that goes onto the "half moon" spline on the silver ram). i did my best to re-allign it with the bottom but ever since then when i turn the steering wheel while going slowly, to 1/2 or full lock, there is a clunking noise.

on closer inspection as the steering wheel is being turned at a consistan rate, the spring will stop and start abruptly, thus making a clunk.

is there a trick to re-alligning the stut?

thanks.

edit: i did all the other 3 perfect, its just that this was my first one ever,

On your strut, there is a hole at the base and if you look at your strut top there is an identical hole, these have to line up. Best way is to get a metal rod or similar and use that to line it up. This will ensure your spring stays seated and in the correct position.

cool. Thanks for that.

Can this hole realignment be done while the strut is still mounted or is it easier to just remove it.
Mine is cluncking now and the holes don't line up.

its easier to remove it and compress the spring, it worked perfect on mine.

edit: it only takes 5 easy acess bolts to remove the strut. (not including the wheel nuts)
