Greetings all!
I'm just wondering what are the specs for a rim to be able to fit on my TJ Magna?
I see alot of rims for commodores, falcons etc and wondering if they can fit on a magna at all? I know that the magna has a 5 stud pattern and an offset of 46, but can other rims fit these cars too? What should I be looking for when searching for rims? (Main reason is because I've found a few good second hand rims for commodores and wondering if they can fit magna's at all.)
Its a big hard to find a good range available for Magna's unless I buy brand new. (Brand new is expensive and losses value very fast).
Thanks all!
114.3 PCD - offset 46
Falcon Rims (correct me if im wrong anyone) fit 3rd gen Magnas not commodores.

Commodore rims are 5x120 stud pattern so definitely won't fit.
Off the top of my head, some Falcon, Hilux and Skyline rims will fit. Magnas use a 5x114.3 stud pattern, which is one of the most common sizes. Like you say, stock offset is +46, but aftermarket rims in the +35 to +40 bracket should fit without too much drama.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind some clarification on this too.
AFAIK some falcon ones may fit as well as multi-stud ones.
Not sure if thats totally correct tho.

yea commodore rims wont fit, falcon rims (AU onwards) will fit but they will sit out slightly further than the magna ones as they have a slightly smaller offset

The stud pattern is 5X114.3. Magnas, camrys, and AU onwards falcons have this same stud pattern.
There may be more that are slipping my mind.

Thanks for the all the advise everyone! Now I know I can look for Falcon rims as well (might try fordforums).
Although I am getting a little confused with some things. Like have a look at These rims (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BA-FPV-GT-FALCON-WHEELS-18X8-GENUINE_W0QQitemZ220474896267QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU _Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item335553ef8b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14). It says 18x8 - what does that suppose to mean!? I understand the 18 part must be the size of the wheels but whats with the 8? and can these fit a magna?
Thanks again everyone!

The second number is how wide the rims are. I think most factory rims for Magnas were 6" wide? 7" wide mags were fitted to later VR-Xs etc. 8" is a really sweet width - it'll definitely fill out the guards.
Those Falcon rims probably won't fit though. The front rims should fit, being +36 offset, but the back rims are +28 offset, so I imagine they'll probably poke out the back guards (the lower the number, the more they'll stick out). Like I said, most aftermarket Magna mags seem to be in the +35 to +40 bracket without too much drama.

Dont forget mazdas :) my deep dish rims were originally on a mazda 6. Later model lancers (5 stud ones) fit as well :)

Just a quick overview: (Please anyone correct me if iam wrong)
Eg. A 19"x8.5" rim means 19"(height of rim/diamater) x 8.5"(width/how wide the rim is)
Nowoffset takes a bit of time to understand. The rule is the LOWER the offset the FURTHUR out the wheel will stick out from the car/body. For example my stock rims i have on now(see members thread) are +45 offset meaning their quite close/inside the car body. You may see many cars with crazy low, even negative offsets up to -10. This just means their wheels stick out up to 60mm from the body of the car.
Some common terms you may come across are 'tuck' (when a portion of a tyre/rim is hidden under the wheel guard), seen on many dumped cars.
'Poke". Popular with drifters who have very low offsets and their wheel sticks out noticably from the body of the car.
'Staggered'. When the front wheel width is smaller then the rears. eg fronts have 20x8.5 and rears have 20x9.5.
'Camber'. The degree a wheel is vertically (to the left or right) leant over giving the illusion in many extreme cases of a 'broken axle'.
My old 20" rims were 20x8.5 all round with a +38offset and they fit my rada fine...just the upper splash sheild needed to be remoulded(rears) only, because on bumps they would scrub. No guard rolling required.
Any questions just ask brah.
Unfortunetly money isnt too loose right now but my plan was to go for a staggered fitment eg 20x9,20x10 with a +20ish offset and a 4' LIP while tucking the rears and about 2-3 degrees camber. To fit something like that you have to play with the body though (flares/guards) whcih is quite costly.
Btw a good site to play around with for offsets: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
I think you stock rims are 16x7 offset +42?

Sorry to resurrect thread but just wanted to say thanks for this. Really helped me understand the deal with 'offsets' that everyone is mentioning. Also found this pretty handy: http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
