Heres a new one.
When I first start the car in the morning I can hear (what I think) are the air con valves setting . It sounds like someone screwing up thck plastic bags. It lasts about 3 secs and doesnt reoccur until next day.
I contacted the RAA tec div whos replied it is normal. Surely it cant be normal. Any ideas?

That has been discussed before, so I'm sure some comments will flood in very soon. I never experienced it, so I can't help.

I recall Blue380 had a problem very similar to this, and also had much trouble with dealer trying to identify and fix it. If he sees this thread anytime soon, he'd be the best person to help you out here.
There were other too, but I can't remember who.

seems it might be a fairly common problem, my series 3 does it... exactly as described, for about 3 seconds after starting i get a ticking type sound, sounds like it's coming from under the centre console somewhere near the auto gear lever.

Seems to happen after the car has been left for a number of hours, but not if it has been driven recently. Annoys the hell out of me but I'm sure a dealer won't pick it up unless I leave my car overnight for them to start first thing in the morning so I just live with it for now...

I searched back through previous threads and found that this was/is a known issue. Interesting reading though.

Same noise here.

Ventilation flaps opening or closing in the ventilation system.

Only hear it on cold mornings.

Weather warming up so no more noise.

Not worth worrying about IMO!
