While taking a look under the engine bay this AM, noticed both headlights are dated March 04... car build date was Aug 03... which now answers the question of why there was a crash repairer's sticker in the glovebox...
I've had my TL for about 3mths, bought from a dealer at 76K, and thought it was in fairly good shape... tho' some absent service history records that I'm trying to track down makes me wonder exactly what has happened with this car. Oh well...

Kinda like the TJ sports I was looking at once. It didnt have paras or foggies (ie. it had an executive front end) and the guy kept telling me it had not been involved in a collision and that my information was incorrect. My guess is it was in a bingle before he bought it.

The secret of a GOOD repair job is to leave no evidence behind - remove those date stickers, use the SAME, original parts. lol
Slack repairers!
My old mechanic asked me (when he was replacing the left rear tyre) "Why does this rear brake assembly have ABS painted on it - has this car been in an accident?". We're fairly certain it hasn't been hit, so the thinking was the rear assembly had been replaced for some reason.

My car was built april 02 and when I changed the interior, the door cards had 22oct03 on them. The cards I got the leather from had 21oct03 on them!

It could have been a warranty claim too. I have heard that TL's and TW's with body coloured lights had issues with the paint sweating under the polycarb outer. So you may not have had a front ender. You can go to Mits and ask for a list of what was done under warranty. All they need is your V.I.N.

Ah, interesting... that's a possibility I didn't even consider. Still... there is a crash repairers sticker in the g/box which needs an explanation. I should prob just call them and give them the VIN... they may be willing to disclose what was done to the car and when.

Lots of different things are made under the Mitsubishi 'umbrella'. However, they are run separately. I'm not sure how the corporation is actually set up, but the division that makes of those parts with the Mitsubishi sticker on them isn't necessarily the automotive division of the company! I believe it may be corporation that has its different divisions set up as different companies, just unlike the usual situation they have essentially the same name, whereas usually the name is different.

All E series falcons use Mitsi alternators.
Funnily enough 3rd gen Magna's use Bosch Alternators.

Mmm nah not all, EA's with 85A alternators were Bosch, and EF/EL were Bosch, as were all V8s. Only EA-ED with 70A alts. were Mitsubishi, and if you change the pulley from a v-belt to a serpenitine pulley they bolt right in to a Magna.
Still, I thought it was cool. :P
Strange, I swore that EL/EF alternators were mitsi, im certain I've pulled those off before......108amp units IIRC.....
Perhaps I shouldnt post while sick :P
