Hey guys, I just picked up a KL Verada yesterday and I have to say I am absolutely wrapped! Huge step up from my ED Falcon :facejump:
Anyways, I have found I can't seem to get the cruise control to work. I've done a search and found this thread: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69932&highlight=cruise+control&page=2 which seems to talk about a similar problem.
Basically what happens is I'm cruising along, I hit the button and the green light comes on, but when I tap the stalk down as per the book to try and set the speed, the speed just drops. So I guess you could say the cruise control isn't engaging.
Is it worthwhile using the w/shop manual and trying to get a fault code, or is there something more obvious that I'm probably missing? :tired:
Thanks in advance for any help, and I love the forums - there's a heap of info out there!

common fault on cruise systems is the brake switch... the magnas have 4 terminals on the switch 2 for the lights and 2 for the cruise... id check this first

I have a 1994 KS Verada experiencing the same thing. Doubt the technology would be the same between the two models but where do I check this brake switch you speak of?

Hi mate, thanks for the reply. I had a look at the switch and it looks OK, I doubt I'd be able to check it without removing it (not in the best position really haha)
I jostled the wiring and went for another drive and it still doesn't seem to want to play.

Hi,
I would check the vacuum line from the pump (near drivers strut tower) to the actuator on the throttle body.
May sound stupid but make sure all your brake lights are working, some cruise systems rely on all the brake lights to work and if one blows, the cruise fails to activate.
Good luck with it. :mits:

I don't think it would be the brake switch.
I have that problem with mine when I push the stick 'down' to set the speed, if it thinks your foot is on the brake due to a faulty switch, the green cruise light will come on then immediately turn off again.
However I have a KS so could be totally different.

Hi mate, thanks for that I will definitely have a poke around and see if I can see any cracked hoses or anything. :)
I'm used to the Falcon where the engine bay is so simple haha so I'm like a lost puppy with the Verada hehe.

Yeah I don't think I have a bulb out because I've backed against a wall and they were both on, they would have picked that up in the RWC also, and the green light stays on too. I'll have a go at getting a fault code out of it if there is one stored, can't hurt.
Thanks for the replies so far guys. :mits:

OK, I got diagnostic code 11 for the cruise control vacuum pump, so I'll probably have to get them to have a look at it at a dealership ay.

Well I though I might come back to this thread because I managed to rectify my issue the other day.
My situation was that the vacuum pipe coming from the pump that goes to the plunger on the throttle body was connected to the inlet manifold, and the pipe that is supposed to be connected there was on the throttle body plunger. I swapped them around and low and behold "Look mum, no feet!"
I don't know that this will help all of you (or anyone really haha) but it certainly fixed it for me.
For the record, I had the car booked in to the dealer at long last on Friday for a service, and they wanted $495 plus fitment for this vacuum pump... I went to the wrecker and pulled one off a TH for $20 LOL. Not that I ended up needing it, but anyways I have one spare now if anyone needs one.
Thanks for all your suggestions guys!

What an awesome result! Spare vacuum pump for $20-00 sure beats $495-00 ++ to a Dealer - at least in my book! Well done.
