Last night, I was enjoying the wet, bagging both wheels around corners :D then all of a sudden at a set of lights (south st) my car shut down by itsself weirdly enough, i didnt notice this till the lights were green, the steering wheel was locked (oh ****!) the brake pedal was stuck, and the accelerator wasnt giving any go go.. so im rolling passed the greeen light in drive trying to use my own weight to push the car down the road. I looked at the dash, and the petrol light was on but had over half a tank in there. Im not quiet sure exactly what happen, maybe the fuel line cut out or something? auto stallage? can someone shed some light on this?   :doubt: if you can imagine what I went through, it was ****in scary.

On a completely unrelated topic I ran out of fuel in a Red Rooster drive-thru once... and people behind me just laughed as I got out and pushed the thing through the driveway :owned:

I'd say fuel surge was your problem - but not with half a tank and for so long... I got no idea what it could be, but if I were you I'd get it checked out.

Don't know about that one but here's another.
Driving along in 60K zone cruise set (yes cruise got stung speeding (gold commodore wagon  )so extra cautious now) and hit a big patch of water, car slowed sharpley and cruz turned off, very clever car the magna. Yes should have had it off when i hit water but it did it for me rather than powering me into an unstable situation Thumbs Up Magna.

Well i was driving one of my dads magnas a while back, didnt notice the spoon drain coming ahead, i was goin around 80km, hit the spoon drain real hard bottomed out then came flying outta it getting the fronts off the ground, then bottomed out landing. The car completely turned off, is that normal? I was just rolling down the street in dead silence, crapping my dacks that i ****ed the car, is started fine though.

Hears some pics of the car after, notice i cracked the plate around the number plate, thats where the car met the other side of the spoon drain coming in, it was a big spoon drain. Oh by the way it was at night time.

My Magna has never stalled like that....but it did happen in a VT commodore to me once, lucky there were no other cars around at the time. Only ever did it once. I reckon your ECU has got its knickers in a twist or something like that, sometimes cars do things like that. Definitely get it checked if it does it again though.

As for red rooster...well we dont have red rooster in Tassie so I will not be contributing to this topic :bowrofl:

Wow all a sudden this thread is about chips ay?

Thats exactly what happen to mine, dash lights were off, etc for some reason, as I was stopped at the red light, for some odd reason the car had momentum to go when it finally turn green, and i started rolling down the street in drive, with the car off lol

This is some wack **** eh?

My 2000 TJ Sports used to just turn off at traffic lights, and there never seemed to be any reason. I always had to wait about 5 minutes before the car could be restarted.I had it looked at and it was deemed i had a faulty oxygen sensor. This was replaced and everything was fine for about 2 weeks then i'm sitting at the traffic lights and it happend again. That was over 8 months ago now and it hasnt happened since (touch wood).

Perhaps your Idle Speed Controller is on its way out?

The one in my folks Nimbus crapped itself, and shut the engine of going around a roundabout! It was scary as hell!

I've got the windup that stalled almost every time at the Pound Road/Shrives Road intersection. Really good fun, as the bloody thing rolled forwards, into the intersection.

check your plumbing from your air box, past your air flow meter

I have heard of something like this happening before, but I'm not sure it applies to the Magna's. The problem may be with the crank angle sensor. I don't really know how to explain this but what happens is that if it is loose or faulty, it can cause the whole car to shut down without warning. Best off to take it to a mechanic and ask them to have a look at this. They can plug into the ECU which will spit out any fault codes but do this asap because the ECU memory is short and if any other faults occur, it could erase the one you're after.

Hope this helps.
