Hi, I am looking for information on transfering a TE Altera to a Executive body due to my Altera being in a smash and the frame work being bent beyhond repair, I purchaced an TE executive for body parts and now need to use the whole car but want to keep the Altera componants.

The question is: Is the wiring, is this the same wiring harness used in the Altera and Executive.

I can see the wiring to the doors is not the same due to the Altera having electric windows but I am hoping that this is only a matter of swaping over the wiring in the cabin and connecting somewhere under the dash not the whole wiring harness, and of course there is the cruise control, can some one give me some good news on this as well

Cheers

Engine bay harness is the same bt that is where it all stops

I assume is only an Altera and not an LS thus no doggy bags and not ABS

You will need to swap over the engine harness itself if you want cruise control as well as the main under dash harness and both side harness

Thanks for the info,

I would of preferred it if you had said, no need to replace the wiring just plug it in under the dash.

Well I now know what i will be doing for the next few days. Wish me luck guys

Take lots of photos before you start of both vehicles. May help in getting it all back together correctly.

So far so good, have all the Interior out, the motor and gearbox should be out by Thursday, everything except the drivesharfts are unbolted.

I am changing the auto trans over to my good motor as well so getting the electrical harness out I hope will be a little bit easier this way. This also gives me the chance to have the heater checked and serviced as well

A good idea with the photos, I will take one of my car before i strip it down.

Will keep you updated with my progress

have a look in my members rides thread mate, did this plus more recently to my TF, it is quite easy to do the wiring as each plug will only plug into the one place

So far so good, Have every thing stripped out and now ready to take mine off the road and do the same.

Have had the radiator and heater core cleaned and tested, putting new inlet and outlet pipes on the heater core as they were stuffed, new seals on the auto trans which is now ready to be put on to my motor as my trans is also stuffed. New plug seals and rocker cover gaskets ready to go.

Spent the whole day today scrubbing out the engine compartment and touching up the paint work ( can eat your dinner off it now).

I hope to have the car back on the road by the end of the week.

If some one can tell me how I will put some pic up.
