I have been looking for an AWD Magna/Verada for a little while now but can't seem to find any... Anyone got any tips on where to look in Melbourne? So far I have tried a few mitsu dealers and looked around on drive/etc.

Carpoint.com / Carsales.com?

Yeah... Internet search is usually the easiest way..

I saw my first TJ AWD other than mine yesterday driving down the road.
Made me feel a little lame cause his was the nice burnt orange and mine is plain jane white...

Anyways...
Trading post websearch shows a black TJ exec, a Silver TL and a Black KJ GTVi AWD (although I think that's way overpriced at nearly 20k).
Carsales shows a blue TJ, silver TL, black TW VRX and 4 veradas.
Carpoint seems to list the same as carsales 'stock' wise.

Carpoint is Carsales now
I've noticed there are less cars for sale in general nowadays
Looks like people are holding onto their cars as if you sold a car now you would loose out a lot more than compared to the start of the year before the "recession" began
I think you'll just have to keep looking until you find the one for you

Carsales.com matey.
Be prepared to travel though.
I had to fly to Adeliade and drive home to get mine... it was exactly what i wanted though so it was worth it.
It was the only one i could find in decent condition at low k's at the time.

There are 10 on Carsales.com atm
However the people posting them are listing them as 4WD drive type, not AWD drive type so just refine your search a bit and they should pop up.

DSMAZDAGTR
07-09-2009, 09:36 AM
The ones I found wre all listed as AWD.. But, yes, I'm not too surprised to find that 'some' people have listed them as a 4WD... The stupidity of the human race will never cease to amaze me.. :P

Tell 'em 'es dream'n.
I'm sure if you keep an eye on it, he will drop his price eventually as I find it hard to believe it'll sell at that price.
I watched the price on my TJ drop from 16k to the 10k I paid (6k plus trade-in) over a period of 5 months.
And that was last year.

the later TL models had some of the same features as the TWs, like the cluster, colour coded headights and fog light surrounds, i think from memory the grill was colour coded as well (not 100% on that one), only think missing was the "ralliart style" steering wheel in black.

don't know what sort of money they are acually getting for the low mileage cars, but I reckon mine with nearly 100k on it can't be worth more than $11,000 or so.

I was living in ACT when i got mine from Fowles auctions in Melbourne.

Happened to be in town on auction day, went to have a look, thoughts 'my goodness thats cheap', bought it. Flew down a few days later again to pick it up.
Unfortunately its probably a bit late to find 'em coming out of gov auctions anymore, as they have all come and gone already.

edit: lol there is one at pickles wagga http://www.pickles.com.au/cars/vehicle/CP-02-04-Mitsubishi-Magna-TL-VR-AWD-Sedan-5-Seats/itemid-1-730003455/lotid-730005007

OK thanks. Quite confusing isn't it! Did they run out of TL bits and had to dip into the TW bin?

So how does a real TW differ from these "later" TL ?

Makes Mitsubishi's use of the TW code seem even more stupid doesn't it.

Went to finally have a look at this car. TJ Sports AWD. Transmission has been serviced (April) and good red colour sticker indicated done by a dealer. Body seemed to be straight no bingles / over spray. A scratch on the front passenger door that has been "painted over". Interior look llike it was in good condition carpet a little worn on the drivers side. Does have ACT rego...... dealer is prepared to arrange transfer to NSW (blue slip etc). Tyres are Dunlops and have plenty of life in them. They are evenly worn too. Front brakes look like they'll need replacing soonish. Original alloy wheels including the spare. Tinted windows and towbar fitted. Stereo is after market but instructions where in glove box. If I was after a second car I would really consider this one. Didn't take it for a drive as it was parked in and I was running short on time.
hope this helps!!

Nice looking interior!

As for not liking the AWD, people appear to "get" AWD or they don't. For those of us who do, there's no real substitute. Those that don't, wonder what all the fuss is about. The good thing is, it's not a right / wrong thing - just personal preference.

Enjoy your new ride.

I worded that wrong, it wasn't the AWD system I didn't like. It was the lack of options and higher price.

hey don't know if this has been mentioned before but if you are going to buy an awd magna (especially if its a tl) be careful because I know most of the ones in Brisbane are ex-rentals from budget and weren't serviced at Mitsubishi :S

Just for anyone who might be remotely interested in an AWD Magna, here's one I came across on the Trading Post which is so keenly priced.

It's a 2003 TJ in Burgundy (not sure if Sienna or Grange), AWD, 150,000km, TJ2 17-inch VRX alloys and looks to be lowered too. $5950 (gasp, that's even lower than FWD pricing)

There's also a Daintree Green KL AWD (2004 model) with about 115,000km and grey fabric interior, for under $10k.

Just go to www.ebay.com.au and type in 'Verada', it was only listed today.

Seems like very good value.

Turned out it was a Feb 05. It sold for $2700.00.
Work required to fix: Bootlid, front bar repair & paint, tail lights, passenger side 1/4 panel, replace boot panel between tail lights, rear bar etc.

Good for parts though

Cheers
