View Full Version : fitting vrx rear lights on a series II 380
I've searched, and found nothing
so..
I've been told by the all knowing people at paceway mitsubishi that it isnt possible to fit vrx lights (clear lenses) as the bootlid is different to the series II DB.
HMMM..
i call bullshit on that one, but can someone please clarify that for me,
I am aware that the lip is needed to complete the look, but Im not paying 400 dollars for a piece of PVC from Mitsubishi to get the rear led brake light etc..
OH and just avoid posting another post, paceway also refused to fix the knock that comes through the steering wheel, which is the bushes for the sway bar (as Ive read on here before) they plain just dont believe me or claim they cant hear anything.
The car is a DB series 2 2005 with LPG :-)
Cheers.

Welcome Kon
Do you have the tails already
series II had the clear lenses, Series III had the tinted tails
the difference is the clear have a lip to integrate the lip spoiler on the VRX SI & II aprat from that it as easy as unbolting the old lamps and wires and putting the clear ones in
Thats all it is
Cheers Mecha
No I dont have the tail lights yet, but just wanted to be 100 percent before I bought them.
I have a 2005 DB so lights are like this

and i want to convert to these rear lights
http://www.spoilershop.com.au/images/acc/ssfs/380%20rear%20wing.jpg
and that little lip which has the led centre brake light costs 400 bucks.. :kb:
so that's what i want to do.. (like i have nothing better to do hahah)
Those lights cost 190 each from bitsamissin.

when you get the lip spoiler you will also have the cost of painting it as well...:)
Oh...BTW the bushes are not warranty, they are a consumable item.
.
yeh painting is a big cost.
The car has only done 50,000 ks.. and is 3 years old, no bushes should perish in that time.

if you want to have a looksie come out to the thurs night meet tomorrow. we can get a good camparison - i have 05 GT. as far as im aware the only difference would be the bootlip spoiler. apart from that id guess they are the same.

Well 50,000k's is around the earth and then some....it depends on the environment it has been driven in.
Dirt roads, speed humps,ex-rental car, ex-lease car abuse...the variables are endless.

Hi and welcome to the club.
Are you saying you are aware of the VRX lip spoiler but do not want to fit it? Another user said the same thing about 6 months ago, refusing the fit the full-length; just the tail lights. I tried to explain how jaggered and yucky that would look, but he/she didn't care. Whatever happened to that user, I don't know (can't remember their name).
My advice is you really would need all the parts (tail lights and full length lip spoiler) to look authentic. I have also considered this mod ages ago, but yes the parts are too expensive. Plus I'd need the blackened headlights too, to complete the look. I'm waiting to find a wrecked VRX or GT, to get them cheaper.

Cheers

ALL 380 shells are the same, the only difference in the boot lids are the cut outs for the various different wings some of them had, they will all inter change between models

beat bet would be to source the tail lights yourself from any vrx then do the search for the bootlid add on in your cars colour. can take a bit longer but its cheaper and easier in the end

Hi Kon,
I had Paceway Mitsubishi install the VRX tail lights and boot lid spoiler for me on my series 2 SX. They dropped the spoiler 5mm below the top of the boot lid so it looks funny. I would understand why they no longer offer the service given the quality issue I have, but then I have yet to tell them about it.
