Hi all,
Looking to the tech heads to design a little circuit for me or tell me where I can get one without large cost or stuffing around
What I need in short (little hard to explain but will do my best)
Need something that when a trigger is activated, will supply power and earth to an item for about 10 seconds. Once the trigger is removed, it will then reverse polarity and allow the item to retract
It is similar to the 3 pin arial system that some Magna's have only I can not find one of these with a broken mast so I am resigned to the fact I have to make or get made something to do this for me
Anyone with an idea on how to do this please let me know
Thanks

Just use a few relays running off the mentioned trigger. In addition you can hook up a few micro switches to control length etc...all can be cheaply purchased from places like Jaycar.

there are many broken electric aerials on 2nd and 3rd gens at wreckers here, maybe try your local and get one cheap?

Dome light delay kit might work with your project.

Hi mate,
Shouldn't be very hard. I will have a look at work tomorrow.
A simple little 8 pin AVR with a couple outputs going to a relay and a pot and you could make the time variable :)
Cheers

Out of interest what are you trying to do?
Might be another solution.

Mal will correct me if im wrong, but i think he is trying to wire up his folding mirrors,so they fold when he locks the car,or puts the windows up,or some thing. He has the mirrors on the car,and just needs to work out how to wire it up....

I know you're after something that you can adapt cheaply but if all else fails have a look at these modules:

Yeah an exact description would be very helpful...

mal, i have a broken ariel on my car, ill swap ya for a working one :P
or if you can wait till i can afford to drpay that back bit you can weld it up?
Brownout timers? I know they can do the 10 seconds.. but dunno about reversing the polarity. Don't have one in front of me.

Thanks so far guys,
I am doing my mirrors and was hoping to get a couple broken elec arials (3 pin type) but given that there were not many of the 3 pin types about in the first place this has proven hard
The good thing about these circuits is that they are compact and easy to hide away
Had thought about making a relay set up but it would huge and this is not what I am after
Mal - which models have the 3 pin setup?
I have an auto-antenna on my car, however I dont use it (radio is not even connected).
Mine's a 1997 TF (december) advance. Whole set up minus the stalk is yours if you want it.

I assume you want to drive motor with what you have said. You need to run a H-brige across the motor and some logic to control. Basically a high on the trigger will put the motor in forward motion and a low will cause reverse. I assume (if your driving a motor ) that you will want to shut it off once the motor has (completed). For this it is a little more involved and you will want feeback from the CCT to determine when the motor stalled (completed). If I can be bothered tomorrow I will make a schematic for you.
