i usually drive like a bit of a granny, shifting at 3000 rpm, and on the way home from watching rove live.... live, in nunawading... i was telling the gf how manuals have the advantage over autos when you rev the car to like 5000 rpm, so she pretty much dared me to rev it up. I was only game enough to put it up to 4000 in 2nd (and 60 ks an hour, the speed limit in that area) and i have to admit it really roared! i was impressed.

But anyhoo i keep thinking this is an old car with no work on vale stems, rings etc and i really prolly should give it a beating.

How do you guys treat your cars?

ummm errrmm YESS i dont cain my car NOO :liar: :shifty: but ive never been passed the red line cos these motors have lost there power by then and i dont like taking it that far when its strugling enough by the time it hits 4700 its lost the power and its not worth going ne higher, better off changeing gear. GEE how can u hold urself from only changing at 3000 lol U must have good fuel economy
But i dont really thrash my car cos its an old car n stuff, i try n look after it

generally badly  , i do treat it rough but not too badly, i take it for hill runs, drift it (bah) and drag it a little, never going over 5000 rpm of course. it takes it fairly well, but when doing this stuff as long as its got a decent amout of petrol oil and coolant it is fine, except after some nites it is as though it has a hang over heh. i take care of my baby and she takes care of me

That depends on what is meant by how do you treat your car if i drive it like a granny most of the time then i would take good care of it but some of the time i have to let her rip cause of the D heads  that think they are all that. keeping up all oil, fuel & coolant i cant see any prob?
It is just fun cruzin but i cant let other people think they have it over the magna.

In the morning when the motors cold i drive it more carefully than if it were a motion sensitive bomb :P (thats for a few minutes until the motor warms up.. cos thats where i hear most engine wear happens) then i probly change gears at around 3000rpm at least (not too sure cos the tacho isnt working) to keep the motor nice n revvy... cant drive it like a grandma all the time :) and occasionally take it to 5000-5500 with full throttle if i need to speed up fast comming onto a 100k road.. and no more than a few seconds of full throttle at a time unless its a race ;)

 S^*t, I don't have the balls to take it hooning. I've got no insurance... never have and never will  ... so I really can't afford to f&#k around that much... that job is left up to my parents Suzuki... 0-100km/h in over 30 seconds, yeah man... go baby go...

i paste my poor little car all over the road, since ive got a loud exhaust i cant do it more then i did before like i got some race car image to uphold haha, i am a lead foot but, i dont corner real fast cause it cant corner for **** but, after i do the suspension and brace and swaybar it should be sweet but.

At the moment we're in the Surf, which is two tonnes of 4WD, and 60kW (maybe) of brute power... So it does need a bit of revving to get somewhere in anything resembling a hurry.

yeah wen my car is cold (ie mornings) i only take it to 2,000. wen the engine is warm and am giving someone a run, i only take it to 5,000 or abit under as 4,800 is where peak power is anyway so its no use taking it above that. i only ever run to 60 anyway, the torque is what rips me off the line. hey, beating an 88 honda prelude Si (DOHC, 4ws, etc) to 60 is a decent effort for the magna. after the start though the lude is catching FAST. im just ahead at 60 (not by much but he'll admit to the magna being ahead) but at 70 the lude is a car length in front.

ive taken my car for a few hill runs in its time aswell. the tyres are decent so they keep me gripped to the road real well.

when my car was still that awful green colour with the white bonnet (can c it on my site, beneath in my signature) i used to thrash it abit too much. even used the handbrake around a few corners  but ive changed my ways, got it sprayed, got the mags and am now taking very, very good care of her :D

yeh cold i like to only go to 3K but any other time i see what its got, last night at karting i took on a 3rd gen v6 at some lights but im not sure he knew we were goin for it.. i reved it a few times, and i had sharky in my car he also has a v6 but i beat him for a while, till about 5k in second, the v6 just pulls away from there onwards, only got ahead cause i was a manual and yeh i dont think he knew i wanted to drag, probably thought i was just a cockhead revving my engine.
