Hey guys, this is my first post,

I just recently bought a 2000 TJ manga (solara), not too sure how to say the name lol

now when it gets to a constant speed of like 50 - 60 the car starts viabrating and shaking.

I googled the problem and alot of people said it was that the tyres had to be balanced. So i went down the bobjane t-mart and got the tyres balanced. Cost 30 bucks and they said that it was done and ready for me to go lol. So i was driving home but it didnt seem like the problem had gone away. The car still viabrates and shakes. now it sometimes shakes at like 80.

dunno what the problem is, is it my tyres? engine? lol thanks for the comments in advance

are your tyres really old? perhaps the car was parked for a long time prior to sale as this could cause a flat spot on the tyres.

might be from worn out suspension components
but try a wheel alignment first ;)

hey vrx257,

yea the lady said that the car was hardly used and that she just left it parked most of the time.

maybe i might get a wheel alignment and get all the four wheels changed tommrow and see how i go lol hope fully it gets good lol cause when i accelerate the front tyres jus spin until it finnaly grips.

bad wheel alignment will not cause a vibration through the car.....

Did the lady say she liked to do handbrakies? Check your tyres for flatspots lol

Flatspots, tyres gone hard, engine mounts...

Terrence

could be one of the engine mounts

Wheel allignment DOES NOT cause out of balance issues

Depending on the vibration can be outer joints, lower ball joint, engine roll stop mounts (front or rear one), out of round tyres

Boob Jane should ahve checked for out of round tyres but generally it is some kid who does not even lool

Junk the tyres - they have no grip by the sound of it, they have gone hard and if you look at the tyre code on the sidewall they are probably well past 10 years of age.

Finally someone with a clue...... Yes mate dont bother with wheel alignment thats not it. Try to observe the following, does the car shake harder when you hit accelerator & once you let go it eases? Id yes then its your cvs/ drive shafts, id recommend replacing whole drive shafts, most mechanics will charge 200-250 for one (you need to do 2).

If car simply shakes & you already done your balance then its most likely tyres that are not round OR bukled wheels (out of shape).

Engine mount can cause some vibrations but normally not very severe, when my one went i only felt vibrations over speed humps & bumps, like when you go over speed hump it wouyld feel like something in the engine bay continues to move, hence broken engine mount.

cool thanks madmagna and andrei1984 and all the others,

the car starts randomly shaking when i hit 50 -60 km other wise its fine. so i will definetly get new tyres tommorow and hopefully it will provide more grip as well as get rid off the shaking, i mean the current tyres are fun when i accelerate but i think they are dangerous and it scares me heaps when it starts shaking lol

cheers guys :)

Had a similar problem with an old KS - turned out to be crappy tyres...
