Hey guys,

I'm running a Pionner Amp 600w to a 12 kicker sub and the front speakers and got a kenwood double din.

While driving back from work yesterday. my amp stopped working.
I got out & had a look.. it hasn't earthed out or over heated, fuses haven't blown, and I still had power running to it. but no sound.
I started the car this morning and the amp worked for 6 seconds and then stopped.

I checked the RCAs at the amp, but not at the head deck (i will do it this arvo after work)

any rough ideas whats happened or anything I should be looking for?

cheers.

Sounds more like an internal AMP issue.. Have a look at the cables if not send it off to get repaired. An amp of mine did the same years ago.. Would work for a few seconds then stop. It was like when something warms up inside it failed.:(

good way to test if its your headunits RCA outputs, plug an ipod or similar directly into your amp using RCA input, that tests if the amps rca inputs are good.

Next test, if you have something that can output to rca plug that into the other end of your rca's (headunit end) this makes sure your cables are all good, my bet is that the cables are fine.

If you have no issue with either of these my guess is your head units RCA outputs are fried

edit: didnt read what you said properly but this is a good test for others with similar issues

does the amps power stay on when the audio cuts out?

whats the gains set at?
some amps normally cut out and go into safe mode when it produces to much power then it can handle
