The regulator may be the problem on both alternators

if not the regulator ...a diode has gone on both

the part where the regulator runs is copper
that has to be smooth ..no grooves to give a good contact

also check the earth wire to the body off the battery for a clean earth

(you have your pms to recieve switched off )

Hey thanks for getting bak to me. As far as I can tell my pms is turned on. Well i check the regulaters on both the clean the up with a bit of sand paper and nothing at idle my alternaters are both putting out 0.5 volts and 1.1 volts at 3500rpm

lol Usually when a diode fails it takes the regulator out too, and vice versa. If its not the brushes worn down, then BOTH the diode pack and the regulator need replacing. An auto electrician can replace them for you. I did the rounds of the wreckers to find a working alternator but got sick of buying/exchanging faulty ones and then went to a sparkie to get one that worked. Mind you, that one failed after 3 months - internal short - but it was under warranty. lol All ok now.
