Sorry to say that I went ahead and got a tint on the AWD. F1Plus from tint-a-car for $315 good deal but its not dark enough. Meant to be maximum legal ie 30% vis apparently UV protection SPF 35 or so.
Wish it was darker though, you guys with those "cant see the other side of the car" tints must be very dark, someone was saying 18% vis, can you go much darker, what about colours? Too late for me now just interested.
It says on it not to use the windows for 48 hours, OK I can get around that. Then t says dont clean for 21 days - but they didn't clean it for me before they gave it back so the car is a mess. Goign to check this out tomorrow as they also didn't fill in the paperwork

Got F1 tint on my white TH and it looks great. Give it a few days, it
will grow on you.
You could get limo tint but it's illegal unless you stretch the car and
wear a driver's cap. :D

Looks heaps better mate. The black looks good. Really need to take a picture during the daytime to see how dark it really is. The flash on the camera probably accounts for why you can see so much inside.
I though the legal max was 35% Could be different in WA. Never really is dark enough anyway unless you go for limo tint (mmm, limmo tint)
Got mine done yesterday too through DMS Energy (they sell 3M stuff, lifetime guarantee at any store that sells 3M). Carbon black 35%. Not a bad job. Good service though. They dropped me off at the nearest train station in order to get to work, filled in all the paper work and even gave me a small complimentary first aid kit (wtf?) They put a little "black" sticker on the window, which I promptly ripped off.
Noticed on the back windows, they didn't quite get all of the window tinted - the bit where the weather seal doesn't extend to. Its a small bit about 2.5cm by 1mm. Not terribly fussed. Really need to look very closely to pick it up. Got mine at $295, reduced from $345 due to a RAC member discount of $50.
Compared it to other cars in the carpark today and it looks heaps darker than other cars, so I'm happy with that.
They reckon they use water to adhere the tint, so in winter it takes a little longer to dry out properly. I can see a bit of hazing when looking out, but that's the water that is supposed to dry out. I'm going to give my windows a little longer than the 48 hours before using to be sure.
I cleaned and detailed the car (in and out) before I put it in for tinting - to prevent any transfer of dust and crap to the tint when they were putting it on. They normally clean the windows before putting the tint on, but I wanted to make sure the window was extra clean and used some polyglaze stuff that has no ammonia in it. Took ****in ages to really clean the car well, but I reckon it was a worthwhile exercise. What do you mean they did not clean your car? Surely they would have cleaned your windows?

Nope there are soap marks over all of the windows and all paint near the windows. The inside is just as dirty as a week ago before I cleaned it ie rub you finger on it and you can see a clear line where you have removed the grime.

I had a tint done about 4 weeks ago, looks great.. anyway not the point -
when I had mine done the guy said not to use the windows for 2 or 3 days and the windows had finger prints and smudges on them - but he also said to bring the car back after that 2 or 3 day period and they'd clean the windows properly and push out any bubbles or "darts" that might have come up during the drying process.
It was a really good service, much better than the place I had my commo tinted at a few years back.

Allpaw, you will be happy with the F1 tint, I have it in my 2.4 and it was good film, while not as dark it definatly cut the heat down in summer compared to other tint i've used.
