My TJ VRX has done 130k now, ive bought it at 100k, so dont think its suspension is changed.

Now im a complete noob on this, what does suspension include? shock absorbers? Springs? do i replace all of them at once (consider it havnt being done for 130k's), and if i go to garage, do i ask for vrx(or magna) suspension or aftermarket ones that'll work just fine. Lastly what are the cost of replacing all 4? kinda on a tight budget

ps.. it is groaning at back end of the car over speed humps

I have the same set up. If you're happy with the height, then just get new shockers. My new springs(King lows) and new shocks(Boges) was $670 from Phillcom.
I think the shocks were $450 on their own. Add labour and wheel alignment.

There's the same amount of labour involved in changing springs and/or shocks, so you'd be better off replacing both at once. I'd use the opportunity to whack some aftermarket lowered springs in too - it'll improve looks and handling, and if you put an alright set of shocks in, it won't really affect ride. Lowered aftermarket springs would probably be a similar price to an OEM replacement so you don't really have any reason not to :P

If you're on the original suspension after 8 years/130k kilometres, a suspension change is probably a good idea, but my car groans over speed bumps, and the suspension is two years/25,000km old....

From what I understand, the suspension on my GTV Verada is the same as a VRX (somebody correct me if I'm wrong!) & I got a set of KYB (same spec) replacements for the front for $260 from RPW. Could have got some Koni inserts which would be better quality for $250, but then you have to get someone to cut the strut open, change the inserts & re-assemble. I find the standard suspension pretty good unless you're into serious stuff, so I didn't think it was worth it for the driving I do. Maybe in a couple of years...

Springs should be fine. Go to pedders and get them to test it. costs $14.

Question ange, if the GTV suspension is the same as the VRX, does that mean they have a rear sway bar?
Any idea what the size of the sway bars are front and rear for a VRX/GTV?

Reason I'm asking is im going to put on a strut brace and if it needs it a rear swaybar.

for the sake of cheaper labour, getting them both replaced at the same time is the better option.
i'd say after 130,000k's, its definitely time, i'm at 130 now, after 3 years, and its well overdue.

Hey Luke, yes the GTV has a rear sway bar, i'm not sure of their size, i would think between 19-21mm.
