alrite, so i decided i wanted to be a smart ass and make the neons door activated as well as just being on all the time, the idea is to have a 2 way toggle switch, switching it to be either ON or DOOR ACTIVATED. now, i have been out having a play with this, but now i am uber confused, mainly the switch area, have i got the right idea of how it should be (img 2). and where abouts can i pull the extra full time on power cable from? ciggie lighter? is that safe seeing i use the phone charger regulary?

well below is how it is atm (img1) , and how i want it to be (img2)

black line = -ve red line = +ve bright blue line = extra power line

thanks, ryan (and i hope this all made sense, sorry if it makes none at all  )

oh and the door light in the pic is the ones that are activated when the doors opened.

Think about the logic and you can save wires. Dont think about when you want it on think about when you want it off. You want it off when the door is closed and the switch is off.

The door switches will be on a seperate line that operate a relay that turns all of the internal lights on. Right. So if you use a switch and a relay (in parallel) on the internal lights line or the door switch line then even if the cath switch is off then they will come on when you open the doors. AND while you are in the car swtich the cath switch and they come on.
With a three pos switch you can have them off when the door opens? :doubt:

Remember to get a relay that is open for when energised.

Do a search for my door activited neon thread.

It's way less complex than that :D

Once the switch is wired up the correct way - it's just 2 connections under the dash and another wire to ground.

What the HELL are those diagrams?!?!?!

Get one SPDT NO (Normally-Open) relay. Hook up pin85 to constant 12V (FUSE THIS WIRE). Hook up 86 to the door pin switch (master one). Hook up 30 to the positive wire on your cathodes (wire them all in parallel). Hook up 87 to constant 12V. Also hook up 86 to a toggle switch, and the other pin of the toggle switch to ground.

There you have it, simple.

heres a pretty simple diagram i just drew..

all u need is a 2 way toggle switch, one side connected to earth somewhere (car body) and the other side connected to the door switch (either to one of the switches or find the wire and just tap into it) then connect the negative from the neon to the middle pin of the toggle switch.. and the positive of the neon to a positive wire.. (not to the cigarette lighter like u said cos it only has power when the cars on, so if the cars off and u open the door the neons wont come on)

its pretty simple, if u switch the toggle switch to side A (refer to pic) then it connects the negative from the neon to the door switch, therefore if a door opens it connects the negative to ground and the neon light comes on (the neon is already connected to positive)

if u switch the toggle switch to side B (refer to pic) it connects the negative from the neon to the ground, which will make the neon light come on, as it will have neagive from the switch and positive which is connected all the time..

Hope that helps..

also, by the look of your pic, u want a seperate neon for each door, now im not sure how u want it to work but......
say u want ONLY the back passanger neon to come on when the back passanger door opens.. and ONLY the front drivers neon to come on when the front drivers side door opens..
i hate to disappoint but i dont think it will work (atleast not how i said) unless you put another one of those door switches on each door.. because all 4 of those switches are all connected together by one piece of wire..

if u do want it to work how i said at the start of this message then send me a msg and i will draw another pic..

another thing.. the way i drew that pic before, if ANY door is opened all of the neons will come on.. say u want to have multiple neons just connect them as shown in this other pic...
basically just connect all negatives together and all positives together
