Hi Guys,

Wonder if someone could advise on this following idea I have had....

In forming an answer please consider this is a budget orientated idea and I realise this. I am not looking at using splits as I already have the following components and it will cost me very little to implement it, assuming it can be implemented at all???

I was going to put some Pioneer TS-A1655 speakers into my front doors, no problem. Specs of which are 6.5", two way speakers, Max power is 140w, nominial is 35w, 4 ohm.

The original plan was to use my 45 x 4 head unit to power 6x9's in the rear as it is now and have 2 channels to the front speakers...all very standard and unoriginal. BUT, what if I put two TS-A1655 speakers in each front door? Will this work? would 45 x 2 be enough to power 4 speakers of the same type? If it is, could someone please tell me how to wire it up as I have no idea...

All help appreciated. Thanks.

i honestly wouldn't try and run 6 speakers off the headunit... i'm not a genius on ohms n stuff but i'm sure it wouldn't really like it... my suggestion would be to get a cheap 4 channel amp, use 2 channels for front, 2 for back, and use 2 off the head unit for the other fronts. (US Audio is a name that springs 2 mind) or use all 4 head unit channels and get rid of te 6x9s....

Yeah, I was kinda thinking this myself, but hoping someone might have done something similar with some success.

I guess I could pick up a cheap 4 channel amp off ebay or something like that, but then I have to worry about getting an extra set of wires into the doors, wiring up the amp etc etc. Adds expense and is something which i dont want to do at this stage.

If its not possible I'll just go the single set of 6.5" in the front doors until I can afford to do it properly.

No you'd be wasting your money if you try connecting two pairs of speakers AND the 6x9's straight from the H/U.

45w x 4 is almost always talking about maximum power. Nominal output would be around half of that. Therefore its gonna be insufficient to power all your speakers.

For that setup, you will need to get an amplifier.

If you hook up 2 pairs of front speakers to the front channels of the head unit, the only way you'll get decent power is if you hook up each pair in parallel on each channel. HOWEVER you will overload the head unit and very possibly burn out the MOSFET. Start saving for an amp..

Most head unit's internal amplifiers are optimised for 4ohms. If you begin adding more speakers on you'll end up frying your internal amplifier.

Highly recommend you avoid this method. ;)

Thanks for the info guys. Will be just using 1 speaker per door now
