Hey people just wondering, My bf and I just bought ourselves a TF Magna Sports, it is unregistered and has no plates when we went to get the pink slip to get it home it failed casue the horn didnt work, One there was no relay we put one in and it still didnt work, the fuses are ok, so we are just wondering now how hard it is to take the steering wheel off in order to check the wiring, and can anyone tell us where abouts the horn is located under the bonnet so we can check that too before it goes in for a blue slip!

Horns usually have constant +12v running to them and are switched on by the horn button on the wheel grounding to the steering shaft to complete the circuit.
I would start by using a simple test lamp and determining if there is +12v at one of the horn terminals. If there is not, work your way back to teh fuse box, testing teh wire to find teh problem (also check the fuse!).
If you do have +12v, try grounding the otehr terminal to teh body with a piece of wire. If horn works, trace teh ground wire back. Common problem areas are the earth strap to the steering column/shaft and the horn button itself. If horn doesn't sound when you jumper it to ground, replace horn.
As for where the horn is, someone with specific info for your model will be able to help. Horns are usually slung under teh front of the car somewhere behind teh bumper or grill areas.
By the way, it is perfectly legal to have a simple momentary on switch on the dash for the horn if you find the steering column/switch is the issue and it's a hard fix.

Regards, Andrew.

Thanks guys, my TE Magna is like that also, we located the horn, and took it off, and connected it to an external power source, even connecting it to an external power source it didn't work, so I'm going to go buy a new horn today, and try that, hopefully that's all it is, cause the other things they failed it on are non existent. They said there was a oil leak, it has now been in the same spot for over a week and there is nothing. So we are gonna hit it with degreaser and see if that works. But yeah just little things that need to be fixed and it should pass!!! WOO HOO hehehehehe
