Hey Guys,
a few weeks ago while driving through the Graham Farmer Tunnel I heard a fait clunk, clunk, clunk rebounding off the tunnel walls. A few years ago I had the grey strips on the doors colour coded and the thin one is coming off a little so I thought it was that and paid no attention to it.
Today driving home the noise was a little worse, I moved my side mirror to look at the strip and I realised it was not that. It seems to be coming from my front right wheel, you can hear it inside the car from about 40km/hr onwards. The faster you go, the faster the clunks and maybe slightly louder.
I have had no usual signs of CV wear like clunks/grinds around corners etc and I can't feel any shudders or physical movement, just the noise.
I'll be ringing my mechanic tomorrow but I thought I'd see what you guys think it could be too.

The noise is constant, in a straight line or cornering.
It sort of sounds like a click and a clack put together.
Sorta makes me think of a frayed/split belt that is spinning around and clipping something.

My first guess would be wheel bearings. Does the speed of the clunk change relative to your speed?
i get something similar but only when taking medium - hard right hand corners.

Yours will be a CV..:)
Yeam im gunna say wheel bearing or CV. Quick wheel bearing check is jack the car up so front wheels are off the ground. One hand on the top of the wheel and one on the bottom. Shack in a motion such that you start with your top hand is pulling towards you and your bottom one is pushing away from you. there shouldnt be any movement in the wheel. Also do the same with a hand on both left and right side of the wheel doing the same shake. If there is movement the bearings are looking worse for wear.:)

And yours will def be CV, thats "the usual" signs of CV wear I was talking about...
it's more then sound of i didn't tape up the excess of the wiring harness in the engine bay, as if the ends of a plug are hitting on the wall

Def a CV, may be but without looking at the car perhaps you want to get ideas and not a definate diagnosis??
There are other causes that can present such as brake pads, try gently applying brakes when you hear it and see if it goes away
Could have something lodged in a tyre as well.
Best bet with a noise like that is get someone to actually look at the car and go from there

I had a similar noise started above 15 klms per hours after that the noise stayed the same, had a good look around the engine and found the under-tray was loose. I replaced all the plastic screw clips and the noise is gone,
Now I have just got to sought out the grinding brakes which I have already taken apart and greased and still make a griding noise when coming to a stop. Any ideas?
