Hey guys
I have a CDE-9872e, and I'm trying to figure out if it will be at all compatible with a 7" fold out screen. I currently use the h/u with a connected 80gig ipod, could I play video through this? will it read dvd discs? or what are my options?
I've never had any experience with screens, so sorry for the noob questions, but really thats what I am when it comes to this stuff.
Cheers

Hey mate you could get an AV out cable for your ipod and plug that straight into the screen

h/u upgrade isn't in the question right now, sick of putting too much money into the magna
is there a way with the screen then, if i was to plug the ipod straight in, that it could in turn connect through the h.u to play the videos sound through my full system? e.g ipod -> screen -> h/u -> Amps -> Speakers and sub.

I am pretty sure most of the AV cables for ipod's plug into the little connectors at the bottom (quick google), so you could still have your audio cable straight into aux.

Getting a screen is simply useless for that head unit.
You have no DVD facilities, no Video file playback facilities (DivX, Mov, Avi MPEG etc.) the ipod adapter (iirc) connects directly in to the back of the unit and is a unique alpine plug (meaning you MUST do it the way they want you too)
Best thing to do, is get a double Din unit, OR get a DVD single Din unit + the screen.
