well got bored today so i hot knifed one of my tail lights open, stripped the chrome and then painted the inside of the tail lights black. what yous think? i think it looks classy.

please note this is on my olds 380 as mine is stuck in the shed.

left is custom right is stock.

I like it, only thing is it might get a defect, id say the chrome is in there to reflect light, if not, nice mod.

Too true. Lets have a look at it lit up for a difference. The pic may not tell the story so you may have to let us know if there is any difference.

I dont suppose you got a pic of what the light unit looks like inside before and after you painted it?

Not overly a fan, and yeah I can see insurance being an issue with it (no more so than those than tint their lights though).

Very nice , wonder what a GT/VRX would look like thou, if it looks crap it becomes an expensive fix back up,so might not take that chance ,but if someone else wonts to that would be good, lol.

thanks guys. as for light output its about half of the stock output. but still noticeable. put it this way the light output is about the same as tinted tails that are on some members cars which arent very dark.

Looks better, removes a lot of the red in the light.
Jam something on the brake pedal and check how both look with the lights. I doubt it would get you busted (no one would ever notice it, unless lighting is weaker).

yes they sorta are. thats the look i was going for but didnt want to do it with night shade or whatever its called. as after a while it looses its glossynes. this way keeps the factory look about it.

prefer the stock look. not sure why something there just seems wrong. i suspect that it might be the bit that changed from red to clear at the bottom of the light looks out of place and messy. will get back to you when i decide:P
