Yet another repair I need after our trip around Oz...

It's a 40 cm crack through the driver's sight line, so it's definitely a new screen job.

I get a free windscreen on my insurance, so cost isn't an issue. What I'm wondering is am I better off:

(a) having it done at Mitsubishi (National Capital Motors in this instance) and get a MMAL screen with a genuine mirror mount and Mitsubishi logo printed on the bottom corner (and exactly the same tint strip I am happy with now) or

(b) getting it done at Windscreens O'Brien without the logo /genuine mirror mount and perhaps a less effective tint strip but have it done by someone who really knows how to do the job because they do it everyday?

BTW do windscreen repairers have special tricks to relocated rego / national park entry stickers? Or am I up for new ones of those too? Do they transfer over the rear view mirror or they "part of the windscreen" and get replaced too?

It's 2 weeks until we're home - I'd just like some background before I start calling to book the job in :-)

They can try and do the stickers for you, however most times it won't work too well, just easier to ring DOT and get a new rego sticker sent out, it's free. Dunno about the national parks one though... The mirror is reused, but think the tab that it clips onto is part of the screen. Around $180 fitted is a good price.

Go to O'Briens, i work for them and they do a great job.

Rego Stickers, or any other sticker, can be saved and re-used.

The glass used is the same or better standard than the original and comes with a lifetime guarentee on the workmanship and 12 months on the glass.

You can also specify a tinted band across the top if you like.

Also, insurance companies won't approve genuine glass, you have to pay the difference and it is no better anyway !!
