Hey guys.. Currently got the TE down at the mechanics.. Had a ticking noise a few weeks back an has gotten worse worse an worse and lost a fair bit of power. The mechanic is pretty sure it's the exhaust manifold. If so, what are my options of replacing it? How much am I looking at? Is it worth getting extractors?

And also, how much of a pain is it to replace myself? I have a hoist an all the tools needed. Just not the know how - but there's only one way to learn I spose.. Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Probably worth upgrading then, IF that's the cause. I don't think FWD ones will be that hard to do, especially if you've got a hoist.

Best bet is to see your local exhaust shop to make sure that's where your problem lies. 'Pretty sure' doesn't really sound to convincing for me.

If you are losing power then it is more likely your catalytic converter.

That aside, aftermarket performance extractors aren't going to be THAT much more on top of standard extractors so if you have to go down that route, why not make it worth your while. :)

Cheers.. I told the mechanic to ring me once he knows for sure so I can asses my options weather that be to do it myself, get extractors or aftermarket.. But the F n goose went ahead and fixed it without calling me.. Not sure what his even done as I was too busy blasting him on the phone. Anywho, going down now to pick it up an see what his done.

Should have brought it to me mate and I could have diagnosed and replaced at the same time lol

I have the manifolds here, $30 each

Probably would have if I had the time to drive out and could be bothered.. Ended up being the manifold gasket valve they had to replace. Ah well, I've got it back now so all good.
