Depends on what motor you already have in there.

If you have the sohc 12v 6G72 the DOHC 24v 6G72 will bolt in no problems. But you need the ecu and wiring loom that came with THAT motor. There are different looms for the same engine. There is a 1st and 2nd gen of the DOHC 24v 6G72 as I've since found out!
Also this conversion you dont need engineering (in NSW anyway) as there is no more than a 10% displacement increase, and it was a bolt in conversion. You only have to get the engine number changed.

If you have the 4 cyl, I dont know what you can transplant to as a bolt in conversion. I'd look at turboing it. They're a great turbo friendly motor.

And as for 2nd gen's being ****, well I'll pretend I didnt hear that :P

ill be probably looking at getting the v6, so yeah

is that dohc 6g72 hard to come by?

Yeah you'll have to search around. I'd be getting a front cut if I were you. I wouldn't want you to go thru the hassle I'm going through.

Also if you get a V6 manual...you'll be surprised how well the sohc 12v performs even in it's stock form.

I got custom extractors made up for mine, there are no extractors for them in australia, as the motor isnt used in magnas in Oz. Just something you will have to budget for or you can use the stock pipes.

would fto mivec or something fit?
would u find that dohc 6g72 in oz, or would it require importing?

FTO motor would be a waste of time and money, the 6A13 2.5 mivec is 150kW?
The costs of moving engine mounts, engineering them etc etc when the dohc 24v 6G72 is about 160kW, which will bolt in.

There are a few dohc 6G72's around oz

Don't forget that the FTO Motor has f'all torque too, it is definately not suited for a Magna.

Good point, I didnt think of that.

how much $$ would be involved turboed a 2.6L astron do you think? Wouldn't the fuel consumption be through the roof on an already fuel guzzling 4cylinder. I would recon my 2.6L carby when the engine is through and use that as a starting point to turboing it.. If it's not too expensive I would do it but I'm not to sure what is involved.
