G'day Guys

Joined up recently as you guys know all there is to know about Magna's, and I wanted to add a TJ wagon to our 380SX. Thanks for all the info, you guys experiences definately sold me on the TJ.

Originally looking at Solara's, but the chance to get a nice one owner Sportswagon came up so I grabbed that.

From searching the Forum it seems the major difference between the Sports and VRX is the body kit (correct, or not?), so with the GE kit on the Sportswagon is it basically a de-badged VRX?

Cheers

im pretty sure you're correct, this was discussed not long ago (the differences between sports and VRX)... might be best to give it a shot using the search function

your kinda on the money there, the VRX kit is different to the GE kit.
the vrx did have a nicer interiour (i think so), and i think wider rims/tyres too.
look at my car as it has the VRX front, with GE sides and rear.
(excluding wheel arch flares)

huge dif between VRX and GE kit, every body part is dif the vrx kit is all bolt on and the GE one is glued on except for the side skirts, but the sports wagons look hot

Thanks guys, did a search of course. Plenty of Sports threads, not so many about Sportswagons. I'll get some pics up when we get some decent weather here (some sun would be nice!). So would it be ricey to try and "create" a VRX wagon from the Sportswagon?

nope, the GE kit front lip bolts on to the undertray at the front, and the rear pods and bolted on too.

Search for (cant for the life of me remember his Alias) [Laydbk] were his plates, he now drives a subaru, he did a vrx kit to his wagon, looked sweet. as far as i know engine and gearbox wise the Sportswagon is the wagon verion (or closest possible equivalent) of the vrx, i did this research when i went and bout my car too, eventually just bought a TW VRX lol... but still

Thanks for the info guys. If I go down this track, what do you guys think I should do, in order of importance?

I am pretty sure the VRX came with a few go fast bits as well... better muffler, slight remap and cam upgrade to take it from 155kw to 163kw.

Goddam its annoying seeing this in every thread about sports vs vrx vs base models.
147kw -> 150kw was due to a cam change
150kw -> 155kw was due to a remap
155kw -> 163kw was due to a free flowing muffler
In TJ1 the sports/vrx had a remap and a muffler change but in TJ2 all models had the remap.
This is just so no one is confused by the incorrect info posted above.

Ouch. Sorry to have opened the old can of worms, I just wanted to know if I'd be a complete goose to ditch the Sports badges/labelling etc and re-do with VRX stuff! :doubt:

Body kit wise im not totally sure if the rear will fit a wagon. I think i remember someone mentioning it is difficult to fit.

If its difficult to fit take it to a body shop and ask them to make it fit :)

The rear bar is nothing like the sedan bar hence it is difficult to fit.

Its always been a weird car as it has a semi VRX kit (Skirts and Front Bar) but was always badged "sports"

Doubt it would be actually called a "sportswagon" as Subaru has the copyright on that name (Hence why the VE Commodore wagon is called the "sportwagon")

Its got the GE front bar, flares, skirts and rear pods that i have seen plus a rear wing similar to that of the Legnum and its badged as a "Sports". Being a wagon, the public has just coined it a Sports Wagon

Yeah what ever a "GE" kit is, we always knew them as the wagon kit, its pretty much the same except the rear pods that taper back around and not a "built in" part of the rear bar (probably due to the fact that the VRX exhaust set up as a muffler which its tip is a level exit, and every other Magna has either the twin dumpers or as on the sports a single dumper.)
You used to be able to get them from Mitsubishi spare parts for like $700.00 - bargin!

The only Sport in wagon form I saw was in a calender I got from the Motor show way back in 2002. It was in a Harlequin type color. I don't recall a wing, and unfortunately, google images has no idea what I'm talking about lol

I think the kit has now mate its way to Mal's (Madmagna) car. Keeping within the old school circle lol

(I stand corrected on the VRX vs this kit too)

Ash is correct, that enture kit was from the "sports" wagon, was mostly bolt on with a few small suttle changes in the back

Some of that kit is on my car now, some still on the original TF

The sports and vrx pretty much had the same interior, just different writing on the seats. The wagon, when they are about are awsome to get as they looked really good but there were not that many of them sadly

seen a few in the last couple of months for some reason some in Vic and some whilst in SA... wish i had more $$ to get another one... but the mrs will kill me if I got a "Sports" wagon and still keep the TL (my baby) and KS (Tuffy will kill me if i sold it)... but the KS kinda feels a bit like a sporty wagon of some sort atm :)
