The more 380's I see the more I notice that alot, mine included, of the bumpers dont match the cars colour? Its the rear that seems to stand out the most and I have even started noticing this on other makes, saw a near new crummydore today and the colour difference was huge. Is it because the bumpers are not painted on the cars these days but elsewhere then fitted to the car down the line. Its really starting to annoy the crap out of me!Reckon a bumper re-spray is in order.Hey what about a warranty:woot: the dealer might get a chuckle out of that !

most paint on new plastic bars will generally go darker than whats on the car itself on just about every type of car

I can't say I've noticed that but I have noticed my bonnet is a shade darker...its a tad bit disheartening!

Hey Mikey the reason for the colour discrepancy is due to a couple of things

1. bodies and made of metal (silver/grey base) and bars are plastic(black base)
2. bodies are sprayed in one part of the process and bars in another then assembled later on (evey batch of paint will have slight variations)

I used to work on film sets and always had issues with colours not matching so I had to sort it out every time we open a new can of paint

Oh true. Well that might explain the slight difference then. Either that or it was damaged and repaired lol...oh crap I hope not

Yeah I can understand that, but why don't they take the different base colours into account and then the variation wouldn't be as great you would think.End result is a better product with bugga all effort. Mecha, where you a fluffer on said film set?:bowrofl:

WTF is a fluffer
I worked on Moulin Rouge SW1-3 MI2, telemovies and Farscape just to name a few
My job was to basically match colours and textures for the sets using paint.
I made a fibro house look like Sydney SANDSTONE in MI-2

Each batch of paint varies even though they are mixed to the same specs plus bars are sprayed with grey primer but it is something to do with surface that it is painted on to that makes the colour flip

I dont take any notice of Holden

Also some bars are sprayed at a different manufacturing plant and then shipped to final assembly making for even more dramatic differences (mainly an asian car thing)

Possibly a silly question. But would buying a lighter coloured car be a solution to this problem?

Not really there is no solution and lighter colours show it worst silver, champagne, white

If it is a major issue buy a black car cant go wrong with black

This is true, all the plastic components are painted off the car and fitted down the line. At MMAL, this paint section was simply refered to as "Plastics. It's where they painted the bumpers, mirrors, skirts and all the mouldings etc.
The 1st,2nd and 3rd gens were pretty good as far as paint matching went but i agree alot of the new models have such big bumpers that any difference shows.
