Hey Guys,

new to this forum but wondering if anyone can shed some light on this topic;

Just rebuilt a 4g54 carb motor that had cracked head. cant seem to get it to idle correctly or run correctly after rebuild.

I have a vacuum diagram for the engine but im doubtful of how correct this is as everything is connected correctly but still no idle, timing is correct also.

Has anybody experienced such problems before with these engines?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a diagram if you could post it would be great to compare with the one that I have.

Cheers,
Brent

The std makuni? carb on the magnas were poo, sorry but they were never an easy carby to work with. In all honesty, the best thing you can do is get rid of the std carby and upgrade to something like a 2 barrel holley which if you find some old school mechanics will be able to fine tune it a lot better than the std one.

All the best!

yer its not a car to be keeping its just getting moved on, picked up for nothing blown so not going to put another carb on it... surely someone must have a vacuum diagram for these engines/carbs it has to be that a hose is in the wrong spot the haynes guide i have little faith in...

test the vaccume pots on the second stage of the carby

if you suck on it and it leaks its faulty
