I was checking out the 'other site' recently and there is a new thread about possible spares shortage for the 380.
One guy reckoned there were no spares available for front section of airbox and thet would have to be 'made to order'
Should us 380 owners start to be worried:booty:

We shouldn't be. Legislation means they must have spares for a number of years after a car is no longer manufactured.

By Law they must to have support available for 10 years, this means spares as well.

Have heard the same by ex mitsi guy, and even this year they were still building spare parts components at Tonsley, told they are what they call critical spares eg suspension components, panels etc you get the drift.

Its called a "All time build/buy" where they estimate the amount of component/panel spares needed and then make them.
Obviously someone in forecasting stuffed up with the old TR/TS magnas as was seen by the amount of doors, mudguards, roof skins etc that was at the clearance centre when it was open.....

Nice little bits of trim, seats, carpets etc are not required to be supported.
So...after a while the car looks like a ton of poo....but has great shockers and brakes....:)
So yeah...they don't need to support all the car, just the bits that make the wheels spin and turn and stop.

i wouldn't be worried at one time they ran out of TR interior door handles and mitsubishi just made more cause they break easy.
The main problem with this is that most of the tooling for the 380 if not bought by spare part suppliers would have probably been destroyed for scrap steel as one of the company's that did a lot of the mouldings for this model is non existent as of last month,so if this is the case and know one bought the moulds cost of replacment parts are going to be like hens teeth

Excuse my ignorance but won't a heck of a big percentage of parts be available long term as they are shared with the Galant?

As far as I know they didnt import any interier plastic but made new tooling in australia(correct me if im wrong),but I suppose if they copied the Galant to a tee then they should be interchangable(hopfully) if not then only time will tell.I am a toolmaker by trade and did work on a number of injection moulds for Mitsi the Magna and 380.So im hoping someone did purchase the tooling as in years to come could make themselves a pretty penny.
