So i have this weird rubbing/grinding noise coming from the right rear of my TL wagon. From reading some threads on here and from what i read i think that my right rear handbrake shoe is rubbing.

My question is, can i just jack up that side of the car, take the wheel off and back off the handbrake adjuster on that side without worrying about the other side and centre console? I really don't have much expertise on this but it seems simple enough, but that could be my famous last words before i end up with a squealing mess of rear brake.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

Grant.

does this noise happen at a low speed?
is so you have warped rearshoes or something to do with the handbrake area
i think this was a common fault on the TL's, got mine replaced under warranty
pretty much the whole rear brake assembley was replaced

I would say that it only happens at speeds under 60kmh. It has only develop in the time since having my discs machined and pads replaced, but not immediately after.

The car is out of warranty now so that's not an option unforunately. Is it possible to back the adjustment out to compensate for the warp? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Thanks for your input!
