Hi guys and girls just after some advise on my tl every now and then when i go to start the car the battery is dead just thought i had left something on but just in case i replaced the battery everything good for a few months then it happened again. last week or so I notice when i turn the car on to accessories the alternator light will show but will start to fade and go out before i actually crank over the car (just thought the light was on the way out) then yesterday the alternator light came on during driving bugger i thought to myself new alternator needed but i drove for quite a while and when i got home checked battery voltage and was around 14.4v with engine running, so maybe not alternator I said to myself. Then overnight battery has gone flat I recharged and now I notice a very faint high pitch buzz (kinda like when you get ringing in your ears) coming from alternator (this is when Ignition is off) checked battery drain from battery and every time the buzz kicks in I use about 1 amp the buzz stops for a while and drain goes right down into the Milliamps. Really dont know jack about fixing cars but my googleing expertise seems to point to voltage regulator - what do you guys think? any suggestions appreciated.

I think you have hit the nail on the head there, take it to an auto sparky to confirm this, then ask how much to fix. also find out how much a tested second hand one is and go the cheapest route.

thank you for reply robssei just took car for a drive all was going well when suddenly the alternator light came on for a few seconds along with the srs light then went off and continued to drive home. so will take to an auto elec and get it checked out thanks again, it might be a great forum for people who know a lot about magna's but its even better for people like me who don't have a clue just to get some ideas.

sounds like a reg fault....but yeah get it tested at an auto elec's mate.
